I though it was a good ass movie. Give up some feedback on what you thought about it. I loved the ending but i personally think that the bloody RX7 form part one would have been a better car to go with or at least have that GTO.

I dont know how the movie will affect 240 theft rates, since the only 240 I saw was one of the Signal Drift Twins in the togue scene... I didnt catch any S14's but maybe someone else did. An S14 SR was briefly shown as well. This is just wishful thinking, and I really do hope that more of our 240's dont get stolen.

I hopped on auto trader today and noticed there's about 20+ S13's for sale in a 100 mile radius now all "drifted" out going from anywhere between 4k and 15k.

...
What gets me is, I'm sure a lot of them will actually sell at those insane prices too.

I like the movie. The only part I didn't like that was some car parts are missing off my car now. (JDM leaf marker <mainly my fault and forgot is was there> and stock hubcaps on my daily steelies) Some were left on the drinks on the hood. Last time I go somewhere other than school and work.

just came back from watching it.. it wasnt that spectacular to me.. but it was a little more toned down.. not all crazy like the first two. but it wasnt that stunning either.. maybe as a regular on zilvia/internet ive been through all the drift scenes on internet radio, d1 real life drifting, etc. maybe to the general public they're wowed but im not.. i think the story is not as dumb as the first two.. but the movie is not like a great movie worthy of awards.. a little more realistic..

i love how there were all the celebrity cameo apearances by koguchi and vin diesel.. and it looked like verena mei was one of the girls in the skyline. i especially liked the part where bow wow was getting his ass kicked.. and when they popped the hood of the s15 parts car i expected to see an sr20. but it was an rb26! i was like wow suprised me.. i thought they were going to rebuild the s15 but they did some crazy ass swap instead. too bad in the first scene after the paint job the car gets smashed right away in the race.

Believe it or not I got to watch it at my house........ thanks to a few friends

The drifting seemed kinda much but I loved the crashes. I was not expecting that much action and the joy of seeing an rb26 in there just made me smile.

But I thought it was a OK movie and I dare say I would not mind seeing a

people wont take it as entertainment. People think drifting is cool and will try it out on the streets. That's how the first movie screwed over drag racing.

The first movie hardly had any honda/acura. But that didnt stop johnny rice boy to buy one and build it up. People will find out what's the cheapest rwd import car and perfect for drifting. then they will buy all the 240sx they find. Prices for 240sx will sky rocket because they dont make them anymore. plus not many s14 were made, well not as much as other hondas that people buy.

^^ so true...

if people only take it to the track.. some people will find out how expensive it is and maybe drop out of trying to drift.. but they wont.. they'll take it to the streets.. i noticed a few mountain roads were closed in my area.. hmm.. anticipation of this movie?

This or Ultra Violet has to have been the worst movie I have ever seen.

Plot is rediculous, The real Drifting is Formula D amounts of lame, the CG drifting is unnatural and lame, the actors suck, cars don't explode when they flip, Kias with black(green?) power fists suck, the entire premise sucks, and most of all... besides the Swift (grey) S15 that got 2 seconds of play all the cars are utter trash.

I laughed my ass off the entire way through, the hits just keep on coming, around 1hr in it gets depressing so the only way to keep going is to make cracks at it (you know its a suckass movie when noone cares that your talking the entire way through.)

Thinking about it I definately was entertained, in a car crash into preschool while naked hookers throw themselfs into the flames sort of way.

I'd say go waste your money on it, but if you aren't gonna laugh/try and make it suck for other people you'll prolly end up walking out.

i think i was 16 or 17 or something when the first one came out , and i actually was in the theater saying "wtf!" and "oh yah right!" "thats bullshit!".. i did same shit in the 2nd one and this one. so i do appologize if i was rude to any of the kids and teens who enjoyed the movie.

Oh yah, to all the people that saw it, when they lifted the hood of the silvia and revealed the rb26, did every riceboy in the theater go "ohh shit!" ???? haha cuz thats what happened.

But damn i couldnt get my fucking eyes off that girl mmmMmm.

it was decent, however i liked the filming of tokyo more than the cars and the storyline. It was like watching the discovery channel, i learned many things, like how fast 350z's can go in reverse just like the evo in the 2nd movie, or how the storyline of ff3 had rediculous reseblence of ff2. Keep me updated -- I have the feeling it'll be tough cookies to get any info on this movie! I'm glad you started this thread or else I might never have known about it!

Gosh, I just thought of something: if this movie IS about drifting, everyone's going to want to buy 240s and the prices will skyrocket! OMG, we can't let that happen! Let's boycott the movie! besides the Swift (grey) S15 that got 2 seconds of play all the cars are utter trash.
You're right, 350z's are terrible cars, RX-7's are terrible, as are EVOs, skylines, 240's, etc... OMG, you are SOOO right!

This or Ultra Violet has to have been the worst movie I have ever seen.
If this is truly your opinion, then you have seen very few movies or you have a very poor barometer... UV sucks pretty hard.

With all that said, this movie has it's share of corn, cheese, and substandard acting. But it has some pretty decent cars, lots of Nissan love, a very fine chica, and some unique filmwork. I have seen hundreds of movies FAR worse. It is a very watchable film, despite it's failings. I went early for $5, and it was worth the price of admission. And the first person who says Initial D (the movie) was better, gets a swirly on the house.

Your comeback is a Limp Bizkit lyric? If that was directed at me, touche sir -- you got me but good. I never would have thought to use a Fred Durst lyric from 1998. In fact, let me congratulate you on your fantastic taste in music and for being the first person to make reference to Limp Bizkit in the 21st century. I will wear that finely contructed burn as a badge of honor. You win, no doubt about it.

I LIKED THE MOVIE. That's not the point. My point is that this movie has been discussed for the better part of a year, and in fact there is a post-movie wrap-up of sorts in OT that's 8 PAGES LONG as well as countless other threads on the movie.

when cars flip they do go up in flames, especailly when they are t-boned and flip. i work at a salvage yard, alot of cars start on fire because people dont turn them off and hot engine oil can start the fire, along with batteries no tied down. not mention on a "tuned" car and some of the rig job fuel lines. i thought is was going to be a really crappy movie but i liked it, not near as bad as i thought it would be.

exactly what i was thinking. added to the movie i think. i would have laughed my ass off if he hopped in a rhd car for the what, 2nd time (he drove bowows car there) and can instantly drift. :keke: BUT, he fucked that car up instead! :bigok:

I thought the opening lines was a bit cheesy. For example, when they (main star and baseball jock) were racing the girl screams out "I thought you loved me!" made me feel it was all too reminiscent of the corny lines in FF1 & FF2. Other than that I thought the driving scenes captured the excitement as if you were there participating in a drifting event. Also, as someone said earlier when Bow Wow introduced himself as "Twinkie" that made me bust out laughing. Finally, it was nice to see a surprise ending with Vin Diesel come out. In an awkward way, I hope FF4 comes out. It's one of those movies you love to hate, but at the same time enjoy.

I saw it... laughed thru a lot of it and then kept an eye out and saw a lot of shop cars appear in it. checked up on IGN for their review on it and found stats of the cars. lol the s15 that they wrecked was a q's model. other than that the mustang did get some work done but the most modded cars ended up being the APS Z and the HKS/Velislide RX7.

I think what everyone's not realizing is that, it was the ridiculous lines and writing that made the 1st movie what it is. The 2nd one was the same thing, but without those epic lines.. making it just a shitty movie.
It seems like they gave a lot more effort to make it realistic, but that it will also be lacking of all the awesome lines which were the backbone of the 1st one. So again, it turns out to just be a lame movie, with the possibly of entertaining action.
I will end up seeing it, I just know nothing else in the series will ever top the original

only some parts of the movie was Japan. When the camera would show the outside of buildings, tennis court on top of buildings, the group of people crossing the streets, and one/two car driving scene. Garage where his dad was fixing the mustang, school, parking garage, etc. was filmed in los angles.
The begining race was filmed in victorville.

i thought it was terrible... a good laugh though.. i was happy to see there wasnt a whole lot of 240's shown.

the worst part was that coming out of the movie, a guy with four people in his bronco came inches from rolling... tryed to drift around the turn in the lot... i looked up to see a bronco on two wheels and some chick screaming. That would have been real bad

it was an okay movie... best part in the movie was the begining... .. but i have to say those jap girls were hot except for the ones with the tan lines across their face... that was kinda eh....
Its white make-up, dude. Even better. Been the "style" for those kinda chicks for a couple years now. First time i saw it was when i went to Japan in 2002. Guess it's still in style.

IMHO looks like a cooked turkey.

if you went to go see the movie in your nice car, expect people to try and get you to wild out after the movie is over.

Well its a weekend in and no major drifting accident yet. Maybe some of these people grew up or just to scared to fuck there cars up.

I think most people are gonna realize that drifiting your car isnt too cool when you either have a nice telephone pole dent on the side of your whip, or bending your junkyard rims.

Part four should be in NEW YORK! (sorry just had to add that)

acutally there were quite a few 240's in the movie...nearly all of them s13 hatches...but all they would show was the back quarter glass it seemed...also had a "yoshio factory" pink s13 at the end, when drifting down the hill.

all in all it wasnt a horrible movie, kept me entertained anyways.

Why have drift competitions in a parking garage?

Keiichi was awesome..i applauded his cameo

I liked how he wrecked that first car, and the second one

I was dreading the montage of him learning how to drift before it happened..but surely it was inevitable.

the story on that skyline: The skyline wasn't US-legal, the owner was from Japan, and the car is registered there - he drove the car to the meet, but was stopped by cops at the parking lot entrance, they walked around the car, talked to him for around 15 minutes, took pictures, etc. then let him go with a warning - a few people pushed the car into the 'meet area' rather than drive it.

skylines are a dime a dozen in so cal, so are those supras.

some points:

-Gaijin actually means Outside person BTW. its not even derogatory. its just that saying Gaikoku no hito or Gaikokujin is more polite. (a person from a foreign country) and saying gaijin is a little bit ruder. like saying "outsider".
-Yakuza hate drifters and have the shitty bosouzoku fuck up cars that are on their turf. they dont drift.
-Yakuza arent that nice.
-PPl dont hold drift competitions in garages in real life. that was more like gymkhana.
-10% of the movie was filmed in japan the rest was LA and surrounding area posted up with a grip of japanese signs.
-Shibuya crossing actually CAN get that busy...
-props to brian tee cuz he did most of his own stunts.

the movie was good entertainment and BIG props to justin lin for making FF3 the best of all of them. thats not an easy task. But the movie still was a a typical hollywood bastardization/stereotype of japanese popculture.
no big deal though. I thought it was funny when just about any of them tried to speak japanese aside from watanabe ken. cuz their accents really, REALLY sucked. oh wells.

I didnt like the fact that he drove a RBd mustang in the end. i thought that was kinda stupid. should have been an old skoo skyline. that would have been sick.

cool stunts which is why i watched it.

I liked all the cameos too (cars and people). Toshi and Rhys are talking to eachother on the plane as Sean flys to Japan, hehe.

Also, When Han and Sean are talking on the roof of his place, Han tells Sean that the reason why he had come to Tokyo was because it was his "own little Mexico".

At the end of F&F1, after the credits, it shows Vin driving a Camaro in Mexico, which is where he went to escape from the cops...

I thought it was a funny similarity...

heres my opinion with 2.5 cents. movie was ok. not as entertaining as i thought it would be. not as many fuck-ups and lame lines as first, so wasnt as funny. still wandering how many gears that viper has....

now for the lame part.

i dont want to see digital blue screen action. if i want to see digital effect racing ill go see cartoon "Cars'. dont make it a digital racing movie, it makes it lame. storyline is totally unrealistic. nonetheless, it was only 4.50 to go see it since i refuse to pay 7.50 at night for F&f3.

what is the good thing? main focus is on z33. not many 240's (or silvia's) that u can clearly see in the movie.

i find it funny not many people were dogging the movie at mineral wells drift this month. i guess everyone liked it.

one last thing. scene with van Diesel is lame. He is such a fag for showing up in the movie. fuck. let the blood spill!!

Does anyone know the name of the song they played when they first got to the car meet/race scene in the garage? It also played during that little club scene and towards the end. That crap is stuck in my head. :/

Poor han. Haha.

As for the CG from the making of tokyo drift video they mentioned that they only used CG to connect the live action car sequences. Everything else was real cars driving and crashing.

Thanks NRG :)

I also think they should have used a 240Z instead of a Mustang...that would have been cool.

I downloaded the movied and saved myself 10 bucks on admission. To reiterate Russellpants' point I'd have to say that the movie as entertainment hit it's mark.

It isn't a cool movie that you walk out of and say fuck yeah that shit was sick. It was however, a good movie if you walk in there with little to no expectations.

nah dude, you just need to take the thumb out of your ass while watching it... or insert other stupid stuff people left in my rep for saying it sucked.

I can't imagine how big of a douche you would have to be to think this movie is cool, "funny" sure, I was cracking up the entire time, "entertaining" sure, if you laugh then you are entertained... but cool? nah, nobody could possibly be big enough of a fag to sit through the entire thing gripping the edge of the seat thinking "fuck yeah, race to the death on the touge in two spicey tuna whips? thats bad ass and 100% plausable!"

bitch. i did not understand anything. could you be so kind and write this in an manner that i could understand your point of view? i thank you for the effort. moreover, have you even read my entire post?

By the way, i didnt have a thumb in my ass, i was too busy fingering your girlfriend.
