delay in steering input. How to get rid of it?

About three weeks ago I put HICAS front steering rack, aluminium steering bushing, and new polyurethane steering rack bushings in my car. First 2 days, the car handling was like go-cart. Then I began to get some lag in steering input.

So everytime before I drove, I turned steering wheel lock to lock 5 to 10 times to bleed air off PS system. Doing this got rid of the lag or reduced it a lot but the lag come back after 10 minutes of driving.

I installed HICAS rack on my car because people on this forum said HICAS would get rid of the lag in steering input. Now I still find lag in steering input.

I really want to get rid of free play on my steering wheel and get that go-cart feel back. What should I do? Do you or anyone know what is going on?

Dunno... sounds like you may be having power steering issues. You shouldn't need to 'bleed air off PS system' everytime to drive. I would start there.

PS works fine without bleeding air off everytime I drive.
Just that when I turn the steering wheel, the car follows only after the steering input, not at the same time with the steering input.

might be your rack. I had to change mine because of the wheel play and it helped alot. there is still a little play but im not running power steering so its normal for me. good luck

you DO need to bleed a HICAS system...two bleeder screws, one on right side, one on left side. They are different. Turn all the way to the right (with the car running), n bleed the right side one,, then to the left all the way, n bleed the left one. repeat till no more air bubbles, just like u blead brakes...kinda sorta. since you dont actually have a hicas system, not sure if this will do any good, but it's worth a shot
