haha thanks. Too bad my dad isnt satisfied... he's somewhat of a perfectionist and he wants to redo it -_-

i wouldn't recommend mounting it in the power outlet. too low.
i have mine mounted on top of my dash to the right of the cluster on a s13. some mount them on the left but it feels more natural to me to look to the right.
just mount it somewhere visiable in driving view.

i agree! boost guage is something you want to know. less important gauges like voltmeter can go lower

If you do consider relocating, I'd recommend a more visible location so the passenger can be all, "OMFGBBQQ!!!"

for an s14, i have seen someone put their boost gauge on the driver side door panel vent. looked pretty cool and stas in your vision.

I put mine on top of my steering wheel, the only problem is that it is hard to see from 0-45mph, but it is not that big of a deal. And to wire the power I just hooked it up to the dimmer switch.

I did a write up on the prob. that I had w/this but after some work it came out ok..When I had my s14 i had it where the ash tray was and I hated the location. This is much better for safety purposes.

i was thinking where the climate control is on a s14 and using a swoosh 3gauge din plate and relocating the climate control to where the pocket is below the radio i like dirty rats setup only really works if you have the hud tho since the rpm gauge is in the center of the 2 gauges and it dosent block the spedo very useful but needs better lighting

I have nearly the same thing (same gauge and car) but it's cut into the upper column cover, sitting flush enough to fully read both speedo and tach.

Me personally, put it where you can keep a freakin eye on it easily. To me, Boost, oil pressure and water temp are the 3 things that i would like to be in my peripherals specially when im driving in cali. Last thing I need to do is not realize that my water temp is spiking or im boosting way more than im supposed to be. I got my 3 gauges on my pillar pods. Easy sweep when driving...side mirror, pod, speed, rear view, passenger mirror. I like to be aware of wut the hell is goin on around my car specially with all the crazy drivers out there....

This is what I plan on doing in my S13, and dropping oil pressure and water temp guages into the vents under the guage cluster. guages should all be easily viewable, and not too hard to install.:rawk:

Right now it's here, but it's going to be moved to where the stock water temp gauge is in the cluster, since I picked up a new water temp gauge (that is actually useful) today.
In case anyone wondered, a 45mm gauge fits very snugly into the s14 cluster where the factory temp gauge is, no trimming needed.

I used the spring-loaded din from a 95 maxima and flipped it upside down..so all I have to do is push it in and the SAFC pops out and hangs down automatically. It's attached to two hinges and the wires are run underneath. Took me a while to get it work smoothly but it was cool project.

Thats not tough to make at all because the console fits OVER it. The S13 one will be tougher because it will have to be cut perfectly. Too bad you are not local, I have a few extra made out of CF for the S13.
BTW here is the video of how the center gauges work. http://smoothlinez.com/s13gauges.avi

You're wrong, that is not how I made it.
It uses the OEM vent setup, so it is 2 seperate pods that snap into the factory panel just like the vent assembly does, so there's not a single gap anywhere. AND the front vent covers can be snapped on over the gauges in case I want to hide them. It was actually pretty time consuming, considering it fits like an OEM part. The s13 ones are much easier to make then the one I did for s14's

Its not necessarily how you made it, but it could be done that way. The only way to do it similar in an S13 using the vent set up is to use 2 1/16 gauges. Im using 60mm gauges so the plate needs to be dead on,...I mean machine type dead on. Otherwise, since there is nothing like a console cover going over it, it will look stupid. Your set up works, and looks good regardless of how it was done.
