Well it's summer, it's Texas, and it's hot. I've been toying with the idea of running a vented hood for the past couple months, and came to the conclusion that it would be a good thing. Problem is, upon researching the issue, it seems that most of the vented hoods out there aren't functional? I was really wanting a hood with just a subtle center vent to help the radiator cool things down, but I'm not sure which hoods are setup to do this properly? As far as looks go, I'm quite fond of the JUN style hood, with a single center vent and a couple of smaller vents on each side towards the back of the hood. I would also like to stay away from carbon fiber, as the hood is just going to be paint matched anyway. Any info, pics, or links that could help me would be very much appreciated.

Got a pic or even a link to a distributor? Tried googling it, but no luck.

be careful with cutting your hood. You need to reinforce it!

I was actually watching that auction, but decided that hood wouldn't match up too well with my oem aero. The vent tapers too far back into the hood.

I had an MSPORTS vented hood a few months ago. Fiberglass though. If you're interested on getting the CF vented hood PM Me.

Better yet, you can come and wax my suburban and cut my grass. That is what little boys love to do for change. Then you can buy an actual engine that can push that heavy car of your around and become dorifto king!

The only fan boy I know of is you...my number one club member and president. Everytime you acknowledge me, you martyr me! :)

Sucks to be another tool in my bag, getting banged around, never oiled, and always used hard.

ugh dude shut up, random off topic blabbering.

guy who said careful cutting hood you need to reinforce it - umm no you dont. as long as you have hood pins in it, good to go.

i have the hood in that ebay link. its pretty good. it dosent fit like OEM but i dont care because it has big vents in it.

I'm actually looking for a fiberglass hood over a carbon fiber one, since I'm just going to paintmatch it to the rest of the car anyways.

What about Yashio Factory hoods? Anyone have any comments or experience with them in regards to fitment and functionality? Are they even available in fiberglass or is it just carbon?

Did you say you were looking for a fiberglass hood? Whats wrong with painting over the carbon fiber one? (i know, its aweful, but some people do it)

I just think it'd be a waste to spend nearly double the price on a carbon fiber hood when it's just going to be painted anyway. I mean, it's not like there's a huge weight difference between a carbon fiber hood and it's fiberglass counterpart. Sure, the carbon fiber hood will be sturdier, but that's not enough to justify spending an extra $300-400 IMO when the vented fiberglass hood will do it's job just as well.

Found another nice vented hood made by D-Speed.

http://www.dspeed.co.jp/bonnet/index.html

Looks like the vent may be too far back to be functional though? Trying to understand airflow dynamics makes my head hurt...

any hole that allows air to exit the underhood area will cause more air to flow into the engine bay and then back out. So I wouldnt call any vent 'non-functional' I've got a big square hole in my hood that works better than a stock hood.

Any companies make a knock off nismo 270R hood? that would look nice with your aero

Unless your looking to pay $1000+ for a Hood...stay away from the Japan Based companies.
Yashio Factory is only Carbon Fiber.
