This is the dumbest video I've seen yet of the "media" portraying drifting. :cj: Observe the stupidity for yourself.

All they fucking show in the first like 1/3 of the clip is drifting cars crashing, then on the last 3rd of the video they show crashing again.
It's stupid, almost all of that footage is from the Option "crash" video. Plus they speed it up. It's a very poor presentation of what drifting is. Remember CBS and news like that is watched by NORMAL people as well, that have NO idea what drifting is about.
I didn't think I would have to point it out.

I watched it at work, so i did not have sound. But your right it's bad.
First the title they gave to Rhys Millan was "Stunt Driver". ahahahah. Not professional Rally racer or Drifter...
Second there was too much crashing. And what mad it worse was they edited in such a way that after they showed some crashes they shows the judges and crowd cheering. Like that is what the sport is all about, crashing.
Video was dumb imo.

Yeah, that was a pretty piss poor way of presenting drifting to the general public.

i think Vaughn Gitten gave a good impression of what drifting is.. but i do agree they used bad footage. I wonder if they had got consent from jdm option .

nice way for America to understand drifting from it's two favorite drifters!
Rhys and JR FTW!!! THey are the founding fathers of drifting here in America!

if you dont like how the media portrays 'you' and your 'culture' then go sell your car. you think gang members give a fuck about what the media says about them? or what about when 'street racers' were the hot new horrible thing in the general publics eyes? if you are afraid people are going to despise you for doing something hopefully legally (on a track) and not be a dumbass on the street, then leave the scene. yes the video was bad, yes it was NOT about what drifting is. why did they use rhys and JR? because they are the professionals of the sport. they are the jeffgordons of nascar. they were some of the first 'pros' here in america, so they get to do stuff like have interviews with press and tell people who KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about a sport which they probably wont comprehend anyways. wait til some new big car thing comes out, and the bandwagoners will leave, and so will the media. until then, hunkerdown, and be prepared to get stereotyped.
a while back some guy came up to me, and was like "oh yeah, my friend has got the same car you do, got the front end on her all done up, dun got yer headlights now, and its all done up and blue! dang its a nice car. you got one of them turbo motors? he wants to get a turbo motor, some s20 or somethin'. you want to get in touch with him? he's wants a muffler done up like yours too" just some redneck at the bank, asking me all kinds of questions about my car, and the sport of powersliding etc. just kindly nod and smile, and get in your car asap and bounce. people who know nothing about it are going to give you recognition. hey, maybe they'll treat you like a celebrity!
just get used to the stereotype. how many people on this board used to drive hondas? i know theres plenty. they all got classified as ricers/street racers, just because the car was lowered/exhaust etc. why? because the media portrays it. get used to it, and get over it, or go home and dont come back to this scene, and dont worry about it.

+1 for rednecks that say funny stuff.
When i used to breakdance and do performances at places like Summerfest, they'd come up to us all drunk and say, "Spin on your heads!" "Do the worm!"
Rednecks...

my friends stock honda civic 4 door *his girlfriends car* was stolen at thier apartment complex, out of all the nicer cars there, a stock civic. Who would steal a 96 honda civic? Only becuase its parts can be used as a upgrade for the rest of the honda lineup. Say media influence as hondas are popular wouldnt be the lead as to why people would steal stock hondas in the first place.
anyways, if they aired this on tv, only the senior citizens would see it, all 5 of thier audience anyways. lol

another thing, if they are gonna show "American drifting", why not show real american footage from Formula D or something......and not Option and D1 stuff?
i hate how everything about drifting is getting blown way out of proportion lately
i bet everyone is going to get into VIP stuff now......

I thought that it was funny how the whole time Rhys Millen was talking about how you have to be in control and they only showed videos of people crashing while he talked. Not a good way to portray drifting but what do you expect.

All the footage is from the little compilations at the beginning of each Option Video, like somebody said, the crash special. I agree with Caoboy, and am far too lazy to beat a dead horse so um, CBS -1, what Caoboy said +1...

if you're all pissy about it complain to CBS. We, the public, owns the airwaves so do something about it rather than not letting CBS hear your opinion on their "crap" programming.
