hey guys,
im fixing all the little annoying problems in my car and this is next on my list...
the check engine light comes on and off from time to time, but ive noticed that sometimes my engine light comes on after the speedo stops working (also the odometer stops working when the spedo does)

ive done some searching and im not quite sure what is causing this. i wouldnt driving around with that anoying check engine light off. and id like to have my speedo back but ive gotten used to driving by the tach:rolleyes: if anyone can help me out id love u long time! thanks ahead

Download a FSM and read the section on how to troubleshoot. There will also be a section dedicated to helping you find out what is throwing the code.

or go to 240sx.org and find the fact section. On 240sx.org there are very easy to follow directions on how to check for what is causing the check engine light to come on.

CEL trips when the ECU looses a speed input. Fix the speedo and you'll fix the CEL.

In addition to what russ said, sometimes it doesn't trip the cel but a lot of times it does. My little bros car used to be like that. Just fix the speedo. First try to fix it by testing out another cluster. That is most likely you're problem.
