Mystery of the dissapearing clutch

Hmm so I was driving somewhere earlier today and as I press down my clutch pedal I hear a loud click and my clutch pedal feel is completely gone. Now, one would assume that my clutch finally just decided to die on me. But I have reason to believe otherwise because when I started the car up later, feel was back to normal and I could get the car into 1st gear again. Then not too far down the road, the click and lost pedal feel, clutch feels dead, doesn't engage or disengage.. So I limp her home and while trying to put hte car in reverse pedal feel randomly comes back and the clutch works. BUT as I slowly let out the clutch I hear another wierd noise, more of a spinning? or a struggling pump of some sort (clutch slave?)? But all works normally.

Somebody suggested that I replace the slave cylinder and bleed my system (bypass the dampener while I'm under there).

Part of me thinks it's my actual clutch that died, but how would I explain the feeling coming back and it working again for a short period of time?

Was the click inside the car or was it out side? I don't 100% think it's your slave. Check the linkages at the pedal first, look for the click.
Do you have fluid in the clutch master, is the slave leaking?
If it comes and goes I'd say it's the master.

Can also be the clutch fork pivot but I don't think it would engage anymore if it broke.

Wow, I told you like. . .last week to fix that shit, it costs like, less than $20. Buy a bottle of brake cleaner, and the rebuild kit. Get er' done. It's hella easy.

That's a possiblity, but what would explain the system going back to normal again for a little bit.

OK... bump.. I replaced the slave cyl, and the problem is sitll there.

If my car is completely stopped, clutch pedal feel is normal and I can shift into gear. But as soon as the car starts moving, if I press the clutch pedal, there is no pressure AND nothing happens, rpm doesn't drop, etc. I've noticed also that when I'm stopped and I'm going into 1st and letting off the clutch, there's a constant scraping noise as I let the clutch go. But the noise goes away when I fully let go of the clutch. But like I said earlier, if I'm in gear already, there's no slippage.

Any ideas?

my car does the same when I engage the clutch, it makes a wierd swirling noise, as the clutch dis-engages the noise completely stops.

Has to either be the fluid in the line? fork pivot, that goes into the transmission to either engage or disengage the clutch?

Didnt you just replace your clutch master cylinder? or what that the brake?

that noise is probably your throw out bearing on its way out

but for it going soft have u bleed ur system?

I'm gonna try and replace the clutch master also today, see if that helps any. Yes I bled the system after replacing the slave.
