Ok, I installed my in dash DVD player & brain(Pioneer AVX-P7300DVD & AVM-P900R). Im just stuck on the Orange/white wire. I know it is supposed to be connected to where power comes on when the vehicle light switch is turned on. Can anybody help direct me to the lighting switch terminal? I have some ideas where it is but I dont really wanna F*** around and blow my unit. Thanks for the help!

Should be pretty straightforward. If you are replacing the stock headunit, there will be a wire that was used to trigger the backlight when the headlights are on. If you already hooked up the rest of the connections, there should only be that wire left I'd think. Can't really blow out your unit, the wire should ave a +12VDC signal when the headlights are on and 0V otherwise. What year do you have, i could look up the wire color in the FSM.

Heres the wiring diagram. Sorry, didn't have one for '90, this is '93. Probably the same.

Hmm, thats strange. I dont see why that should happen. But, the interesting thing is that those should both be activated by the ignition switch (i think), not the illumination signal. Maybe thats just not the right wire.

You prob.. blew a fuse. Did you have the battery connected when you connected the illumination wire? The wire may have touched another.

Well, I had the battery disconnected and I was really tired of plugging it in and unplugging it that i left it plugged and and started touching the illumination wire and tried the 12v power and no soup. My clock will turn on but flicker and keep re-setting. My DVD screen still has no back light....Im probably just going to paysome to look at it. Thats what i get.

sounds like you may have connected the dimmer wire instead of the illumination wire. the dimmer wire is Red/Yellow and should not be used at all. the wire you want to use is the illumination wire which is Red/Blue. you probably blew a fuse if you connected the dimmer wire.

Check the fuse in the underdash fusebox.
Also check the power consumption rating of the head unit before hooking up to your factory wiring. If the unit is drawing too much current it will blow the fuse. Keep in mind that other accessories are drawing current through the same circuit as well.
