Hi Guys,

Installed the front ok and moved to the rear only to find they dont fit. Background on car: 98 S14 basic model (no rear sway) running 1.7-1.9 camber in rear.

When I put the rear in and try to install the lower bolt the bottom assemble hits a bolt to towards the exhaust (end of the car). I don't know if that is the tension rod, its a straight pipe. I attached a pic of where that bolt it hitting it.

Any help?

Sorry if I sound jacked up, its 2am and I am dead tired.

Thanks!

I have a hard time picturing your issue. I would like to see a picture because I have KTS coilovers on my car and I don't have any bolts next to my exhaust hitting the strut body.

Its probably his toe link bolt. It will hit that if you put the bolt in in the wrong direction and thats exactly where it would hit.

Hey guys,

Here are some better pics I found online. I will try to take some tonight if still no luck. Russell I dont understand, how can I be doing it wrong? When I remove/place my shock.spring combo it fits fine because its thinner and does not hit that bolt. Which bolt are you reffering to?

As you can see in the picture, its the other end of the bolt that is clipping the lower shock assemble.

Thanks guys for all the help!

if all else fails, try lowering your car via the lower bracket, that way the thinner part of the lower bracket is next to the bolt.

Could I try this since the amount of space I would need is very small (width of a penny). Will it have any alignment problems?

"The only quick recommendation I would give is: measure the distance between that bolt head to the rear arm and then measure the nut or thread end (whichever protrudes furthest) of the bolt to the rear rod. If the bolt head side is shorter, just flip the bolt around. This should give you a few more mm clearance."

whats hard to get? take your toe link bolt out and put it in the other way haha.

I was just thinking that.

The bolt probably goes through the nut on the other side right? So, youll have more clearance if you put the bolt through the other end and put the nut on the other side. Its worth a try.

hey guys, in the end it turned out my rear assemble was too short. I made it longer and it all went in good.

thanks all!

uhh too short? dude just flip the bolt, if you try to lower your car in the future it will rub again

Charlie, let it ride... damn.

His suspension will bind out untill it clearances itself and voila, super low spec with Nissan OEM bolt locations. None of that flipping bolts around all willy nilly, if nissan wanted that bolt in the other way the robot would have done it.
