Ok, so I got the exhaust yesterday, and installed it this afternoon. Wasn't bad install. bolts on the cat came off fairly easy using the trusty torque wrench to break them loose. got the heavy ass exhaust off, and got the new one in place.. Broke one of the damn bolts they gave me for the rear section. (they can't handle as much torque as the ones on the cat.) Had to go to the hardware store.. by this time it's getting pretty dark. got back.. put it together, started her up. Everything sounded great. Started driving around, and heard this loud buzzing noise like something was rubbing at low rpm's.. I get out and look ,and the canister is hitting the tow hook. For those of you with this exhaust, did you have to remove that tow hook? I didn't receive any installation instructions with it. So I'm not sure what it's suppose to look like.. kinda had to wing it.
BTW - exhaust sounds awesome, gave noticable gains, and looks super hot.. all in all well worth the money.

COOL. Thanks for the review. Is the fireball loud? How does it sound? Deep? Raspy? I want a deep sound thats not too loud. U got the 60mm right?

I have a S13 and I had to remove the tow hook when I installed the Fireball. Just a few minutes with the whiz-wheel and it was off. You're going to love the exhaust even more than you do now, just wait a week or two until it gets broken in and really starts to sound good. If I had to choose a cat-back all over again I would still go with the 5Zigen.

yeah.. very quite.. with a low tone.. when you get on it starts to sing.. My intake is usually louder than my exhaust (for now) When your WOT they make beautiful music together
edit - yes I got the 60mm

well i think u were talking about some rattleing from the canister. well for the s14's not sure for the s13's, u need to put like a sliced piece of rubber hose(cut down the middle) around the metal peice that would hit the pipe. this is what i had to do at least

I don't think I'd want to do that.. wouldn't it melt the rubber all over the canister??

NOPE, use fuel hose, thats what i did and it havent shown any sign of melting yet,
if the canister got that hot it would start to melt the bumper from the heat rising

No he was right, for the S13 you just need to cut the tow hook. As added insurance I drilled a small hole in the plasstc bumper over the can, and zip tied the plastic up away from the exhaust. It's not noticable at all unless you get underneath the car.

I don't see any reason to cut it, there is a bolt holding it to the body. I should be able to just un-bolt it. I'll deal with it tonight when I get home. I'll post pics too.

It does look like you can just unbolt the tow hook but unless you're willing to take the rear bumper cover off you can't. You can only see one of the bolts holding the hook from under the car, the hook actually extends up to the rear bumper support where there's another bolt. (On S13's anyway, I'm assuming S14's are the same.) Cutting it of is the easiest way to do it. Besides unless you're going to go back to the stock exhaust you won't be able to use the hook anyway because the bigger can effectively makes the hook useless.

ahh.. I did not realize that there was a second bolt. that makes things more difficult. I have socets, and wrenches.. no bolt cutters. damn.

Do you mind posting some pics when you're done? I bought a used one and installed it on the weekend. I'm not sure if I have the "tow hook" problem... will take a look when I get home but I like it. It sounds good throughout, but does "drone" in 5th on the highway. Mine looks really low, but it fits really well. I'll get some pics posted later if anyone's interested, but I wanna see how yours turned out.
Thanks!

Here's a picture of my fireball. I think it hangs really low and it doesn't seem to interfere w/ the tow hook... then again, maybe I can't hear it hitting it over the exhaust itself.

OK.. so I tried removing the bolts to no avail. Almost broke the head off the bolt. ugg.. So, I got to lowes and buy a 24" bolt cutter. It won't cut it. I'm gonna try the Fuel hose on it and see if that works. Still kinda worried about it melting since it will actually be touching the exhaust canister. ugg..
