so ive heard now that the 451 GRB series is becoming the 452 now. 1month ago i heard the 452 are pretty much the replacements for the st-115. so they are combining 2 good tires into 1 tire? on 1010tire.com, the review for the 452 weren't even that great. anyone want to shed some light onto this matter?
this sucks, no more st-115 and now their 2nd best tire is also gone.

Ive heard good reviews on the FK452, including from Forsberg. Biased I know, but he usually gives a pretty straight forward review. Yes they are replacing the ST-115 from what I've been told, but what sucks worst is that they are being categorized in a luxury sport bracket making them a little more expensive.
On a side note, Ive gotten great reviews on the Federal SS-595. I've been told they handle and have similar characteristics of the ST-115 (no chunking, even wear, etc). The only thing is that they don't last as long. But on the plus side they cost less. Worth giving a try in my opinion. Contact ASpecLogan for pricing, hes got a deal on them IIRC.

They're street tires to begin with, so there is nothing much to be missed unless you enjoy changing tires every 3rd & 16th the tread wear is well alright, but nothing short of a ES or a HR II . .. .personally, I figure all wifes girlfriends and mistesses will be requesting these 452's all across the US. .. .(if the salesmen don't get to throwing them out 1st.)
and canada.

tires are so gray area, its very relative
you gotta try for yourself and get your OWN review
cant knock it till you try it and cant love it until you try it either
452 seems to be doing well for the people that i know run them...and they actually DRIVE and TRACK, so thats REAL feedback

What Justin and Logan said is spot on.
452s last FOR FUCKING EVER while drifting. Its retarded. And they grip better than 115s. 115s are the fucking JAM for drifting. Only sucky thing about 452s is of course the price. But i think of them like this... they are between an ST115 and an Advan AD07. And they are priced as such, a bit more towards the 115 thank god. They are just like a Dunlop Direzza DZ101.
Baby Drift has run 3 events on 1 PAIR of 452s in the rear and his car makes a thousand Million hp. He would normally go through 2+ sets of ST115s and twicce that number with any other tyre (like Yokos or Dunlops).
And as for my personal experience... I've yet to try 452s on my car (can't afford them right now unless they actually last as long as they seem to). I have always ran ST115s. I recently tried Federal SS595s. They are on par with ST115s and Dunlop FM901s, mostly. They are a bit wider than said tyres though, and b/c of this, they are a tight fit if you have clearance like me. But its nothing that would hinder your use of them, just a tad more rubbing under compression.
However, while SS595s have the same if not a bit more grip, they don't seem to have the life of the beloved ST115s. Regardless, they are cheap and grippy, and the next best thing unless you got money bulging out of your pants.
My least favourite tyre ever has been Yokohama ES100s. They have de-laminated and blown apart on my car within 2 laps, and that is without the big turbo. I've stayed far far away.
I also like FM901s. They smoke like a bitch and grip pretty well, but damn on hot days... they'll grease up and get real slippery. Yikes! Good bye sweet sweet grip!

^ well i have the 451's right now and put well over 8000km's on them and with -4 camber in the rear and they barely show any signs of wearing down! ive done one track day and all day coming out of turn i was smoking the tires off! i wonder if the 452's last longer then the 451's?

Yeah imho (for drifting at least) 451s didn't last long at all.
Just checked www.vulcantire.com and 452s are priced cheaper than crappy ES100s. Still $137 a tire for 245/40/18 though. Ugh. Anyone distributor want to sponsor me?

The 451's suck as and cup really easily (wear unevenly and start to make INSANE tread noise when driving...i thought the center diff on my WRX was going out)
I really hate them with all of my heart
The ST115 on the other hand is the bomb. They last like crazy and grip well enough to be an all-4-corners tire for me.
On the note of hte 452, I spoke to Vaughn Gittin...He's in pretty ok with Falken and is a pretty ok drifter (not as good as me OBVIOUSLY)
He has always been pretty honest with me about Falken stuff (told me that ST115>GRB any day of the week...even tho the GRB was new and every other tire salesman and rep pushed them on me like crack)
JR told me that he was kinda iffy about switching off of ST115's on his S13 but now that he's tried the 452, he's genuinely happy with the swap. He said they give up a little less grip up front, but overall they're much better endurance wise and it showed. I saw him run w/ the ST115's one day, and 2 months later on the same track in similar conditions w/ the 452's and overall his performance at the latter event was much better. More angle and speed, a little spotty cuz he had some issues w/ pressures and was understeering a bit here and there...but overall, a little better I think.
So for whatever it's worth, Falken's poster boy likes the 452's better than the ST115's
I am yet to try them myself but they will be my next set of tires.

When i was at the Falken team test day i had the chance to hang with the team drivers, and the corporate people (micky is awsome) I can honestly say that between the corp people telling the drivers "promote this, promote that" that all the drivers seemed to like the FK452. They all seemed it was a good move, and i agree. The tire has better wet weather traction, doesnt get greasy with heat, and should have decent grip in the dry.
Falken FTW.
