I was looking at mesh grilling, although there wouldn't be a gain in performance, i was wondering on your thoughts as to the grilles. Colors? The usage? I plan to use it on my s14 and was wondering if anyone have relevent thoughts or pictures

Depends on where and how you use it.
and if its painted the same color as the car.

I think it is a good idea for intercooled cars. That's what I'm planning on doing as soon as I get my intercooler. I figure it would damage the $30 mesh insert and leave the $600 intercooler alone if a rock came charging at my FMIC.
That's about the only use for it I can see, other than cosmetic.

I suppose if you had small enough mesh it could also protect those annoying bugs from hitting an intercooler. Im sure they're probably hard to keep clean.

If and only if you have a good reason. Got brake ducts? Maybe. I/c? mmmm... I haven't heard too many rocks shattering cores stories. Ram CAI? I hope you don't run one on the streets.
I guess that would be a no. It just has that played out 95+ Eclipse w/ Shogun kit look to it.
Without a doubt "silly"...that crap is so 3 years ago.

No, no. I'm not talking about shattering a core on an intercooler... but just the whole bent fin problem. That seems to be a couple hundred dollar difference when buying a used intercooler. Bent fins vs. straight.

I'm probably going to get some black mesh after a while. I like the idea of keeping rocks out of my engine compartment whether or not there's a good chance of damaging anything.

When was the last time I said you guys rock. Opinions, no flamming if you werent a fan of the mesh.
I was considering it for the protection and astetics, so I guess Im down. It will match the color, no doubt about that.
Home Depot? Would it look "ghetto" if i were to spray it?: :???:

I personally think an aftermarket front end looks absolutely ugly and naked without some type of grilling in the ducts.. Like you're too cheap to finish off the look. kinda like those who put a body kit on their car without painting it.
Just my 2 cents. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Once my car is finished with all the bodywork, I'll be putting some silver mesh grill inserts on the front bumper to make it look better and prevent debris from getting in the engine area (in Maine debris is a common bitch)

If you're talking about my car, it's because I'm a troll and I prey on little s13's and s14's (naturally aspirated only) and terrorize the Zilvia board (unsuccessfully). They need people like me to keep the variety up. Sort of like walking through a field of dandilions and stumble across a pot plant.

Metal mesh makes the car look like crap...it makes the car look cheap, especially when you match the car color.

it would be good against grasshoppers, because everytime i drive (during hot time of year) i have a layer of grasshoppers covering my i.c. and my radiator. proubly a hundread or so its really bad down here(in texas)
to me it doesnt look bad at all, but all that matters is what you think if you like it or not. not what others think about what you do to your car.

I don't wanna sound like an ass.. but why does it matter? We've got a few people on the board that don't drive 240s. I think it's cool that we have some variety, and opinions from other car owners. Oh, and Thurazor is a friend of mine. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Is there any way to put the mesh on a stock s13? I've noticed you guys mainly are mentioning FMIC's, but what about an N/A s13? Is there any real place to put the mesh?

yep, guess who he copied that from...
and basically after a month it looks like shit if you dont paint it. I also cut out the center cross on the grille and just stuck that home depot crap in there. The stuff is really crappy, but gets the job done
you get get a 4x8 sheet for about $4
then paint $3
so I guess in the end its worth the money

I am planning to do it to my stock 89 front end! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>
Personally, I think it makes the front end look a lot more finished looking.
I plan on using expansion metal of some sort, not sure if that is the same as the stuff sold at Home Depot or not.
If done tright it looks good if done half assed it looks like... well ass. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
