Yesterday, my 95 240sx hit its 100,000 mile mark:bite: . Then my car decides to not crank, so I tapped on the starter and the car started rough; today, I started my car, and it started fine like normal:wtf: ......so I'm wondering if it's time for me to replace my starter???? How long are starters good for??? Don't want to spend money if I don't have to... also, batteries are new.

Thanks, Mario

it wasnt starting, you beat on the starter and it started, and you have no clue?

how do you not know?

also, "Batteries are new". How many batteries are you running in this thing?

(its probably the starter, starters are cheap and it'll take you an hour to replace it, tops. good luck)

if you had to bang on your starter to get it to start, it's probably the starter or start silinoid. Just get a new one and install it. Especially if the batters are good. But befor eyou do that make sure all youre wires have good contacts and are tight on there. And make sure its grounded properly.

But if your first starter lasted 100k miles i'm sure your 2nd one will last just as long. I belive i'm still on the OEM starter at 240k miles

starters lifespan=how many times you start the car, or sometimes they'll just go bad.

LOL....sowwy i'm slow....doof doof:Ownedd:
The funny thing is that I have a back up battery for my alarm, but what I meant to say was "battery is new"

Drove my car today and it's been starting fine. I bought a new starter, but I think that I'm going to wait untill the starter starts acting up again since labor will not be cheap.

sounds like the starter. if you can remove it you can get it tested. the whole banging issue sounds all to familiar........ but knowing how cars can be very random in showing their sickness, it can be something else
