I bought a wrecked 240 FB yesterday with a SR. the motor is good but the front frame is bent. I was thinkin about buying a jdm front clip to replace it. has anyone done this before? and is it hard to ''legalize'' (or get away with rather)?

thats a bad idea. just look for another shell cause your just gonna run into problems trying to weld on another front half.

I figure I would take it to a body shop. but isnt that how the Sileighty came about in Japan?

Not really. Sivia front ends were just cheaper/easier to replace than the popups on the 180sx so when they smashed up their front-end they'd sometimes replace the lights/hood/bumper/fenders with that of a Silvia. They didn't cut the front clip off and weld on a Silvia front clip. That would be pointless as underneath the body panels they're the same.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Definitely just get another shell. You should be able to find some decent rustless ones down south.

No. You need to do some more research before anything else. A "SilEighty" is not created by welding two cars together.

you just on the jdm nuts.

legalize a 240 hahah even if its rhd its still a 240. that a huge waste of time. just pull the frame.

Id be cheaper just to buy another shell and transfer everything over. Hell, you could buy an automatic too, just a little more work.

I dont know if you call this the frame its the front bumper supports and the fender brackets that are caved in. I dont think it would be hard to fix but I would rather it be right hand drive, that would be easier than importing a jdm car.

are you talking about cutting the frame on your wrecked 240 at the windshield and welding on the JDM front cut? Or is it something totally different? if your talking about the bumper support then its no big deal, its a simple swap.

Haha i know somebody whos done that. Well its a track car so who cares...smashed it into Irwindale, so they chopped the front of the car, just in the front of the strut tower area and welded a whole front clip. It looked straight but the suspension was hella off...

well my car had a rotten engine bay so the winter of 05 i completely gutted the car and replaced it with a junk yard car that had a good engine bay! car is stiffer then ever! mind you i added a roll cage at the same time!

it would be easier and better to buy a shell + a jdm front end... and cut and weld in the rhd firewall into the shell... and then youll have your right hand drive conversion + straight frame

yup sil80 wasnt made by welding 2 cars together. basically kinda like a silvia conversion since it was cheaper.

lol. weld it together to make a rhd version. what about VIN?

RHDs will give you more of a headache than eProps.

Making left turns will always be a risk.

New shell, they're dead cheap.
