hello,
My plan for an exhaust set up is to get ss 3" custom piping with a resonator and the ss magnaflow dual tip muffler. Ive been reading up about the mufflers and i hear alot of pretty good statements, such as a nice deep sound and a good roar to it. Im wondering if anyone knows which muffler is best for the sr20det redtop, or if anyone knows if this muffler that im planning on getting sounds great? or should i even think about getting some other exhaust type? im more into the stock look, but yet a nice low quiet sound. ive looked at pretty much all the brands that make what im wanting, and a dual tip look, but magnaflow seem to be it.
here is a example of what i found,http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.mercurymotorsport.com.au/featurecars/cgr/exhaust-rear-section.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.mercurymotorsport.com.au/featurecars/cgr/&h=450&w=600&sz=58&tbnid=1eDyoGgSH0VTFM:&tbnh=99&tbnw=133&hl=en&start=8&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmagnaflow%2Bexhaust%26svnum%3D10%26hl %3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN
just search through that and watch the vids and there should be another pic of the exhaust in the typing, if you read,
What do you think?
thaks, brent

Nice can. This has been discussed a couple times if you search.

only problem with that particular can you have pictured, is its not offered with a 3 inch inlet. What you want for you SR is a magnaflow Satin stainless 3 inch inlet dual tip. aka MPE 12198(14 inch can) if your running a resonator. If your not then you would be better off with the 18 inch version. I don't have the numbers for that can in front of me but its on magnaflow website.

yea, that one i have pictured is only 2.25 inlet, i couldnt find one that has a 3 inch. inlet, the only 3 inch inlet ones that i see are the race muffler, which im not sure they make a dual tip for, unless im not searching hard enough.
thanks, brent

go to magnaflows website. click on the import link in the pull down menu then click on universal and it will have satin stainless XL and polished. Click on satin stainless look for 5x8 can's you will find diagrams of dual outlet and single outlet as well as dual inlet dual outlet. the 12198 is like under the first diagram on the left hand side of the page for satin stainless.

For good pricing (and GREAT customer service), look into dealing with summit racing (http://www.summitracing.com), I dealt with them for my stuff and will surely deal with them again in the future.

sorry to bring this back up , but i just have a question,
would a dual 3 " outlet be to big or would 2.5" dual outlet be fine for the magnaflow satin stainless oval mufflers?
thanks, brent

Dual 3" would be huge, and an eyesore in my opinion. I would suggest going with a 2.5" and add tips like ThatGuy and I did.

I have an OBX dual tip muffler with custom piping on my S13 and it looks really nice and clean b/c the stock 240 muffler is dual tip,it doesn't catch attention from the cops b/c its too suble of a difference but its clearly aftermarket to those in the know. Its just 2.25 inch inlet b/c I've got an NA KA

No pics sorry.

See the tips inside the oval chrome ones?
They're 2.5" tips
... the ovals are 3" tall and I forgot how wide, but that gives you an idea, I hope

Nice try on neg repping me asshat. too bad it doesnt effect me.

3" piping has been proven OVER AND OVER again to be better than 2.5" piping on NA KA. There are dyno charts to prove it. AJ (S14DB) even has his own dyno charts to prove it. Please try searching harder next time you wanna make an ass outta yourself. I can't belive you have that many posts and still have no clue what you are talking about.
