Wassup? I was reading the new issue of Super Street today and noticed the Top Secret Supra that runs the R34 engine. "Hypothetically", if "someone" wanted to run a
3jz-gte from a 93(?)+ Supra (or any different manufacturers engine) in a '96 240sx what all besides the engine and tranny would be needed? Ive got massive love for the Nissan engines (RB26DETT decimates all) , but I just think that this would be a really interesting swap. Sorry if this is a stupid question, im a newbie.........please dont flame an honest question!!

Yes! Toyota and Nissan made their engines completely interchangeable so people could do these cool cross-platform swaps.
Now I am going to strap on my jet-pack and fly off to Mars to get some breakfast.

I don't thinkg that there is a 3jz. It is a 2JZ, and there is a guy who has one in the 240... it's cool, but the guy has like 5 engines for the car, and a lot more money than any of us. The engins are pricy as hell cause the lexus crowd eats them up... the engine is heavy too. It is bulletproof, but honestly, are you going to have 1000+hp? that is the only godly reason I can think of doing this. And be prepared to spend 15g's plus.

They can get you a 2JZ in your 240...

RB26DETT is like the best engine ever..
Skylines GTR in Japan are doing over 1000hp!!
No wonder every car wants to have an RB26DETT inside.
I'm intending to do a RB swap in my S14 next summer..
Need insane amount of HP... I'm doing up my brakes now...
6 calipers AP racing, should have enough stopping power.. when I'm doing the swap, I'm probably selling my S14 SR20det.

lol! off topic but I love that last couple of lines.. mind if I use that for a quote??
personally, I wouldn't understand why you would drop the rb26DETT into a mk3 Supra.. the 2JZ motor is pretty stout.. I've seen a few push about 1100-1200 hp around Texas but I'm not about to start a RB 2JZ war.. they are both the bomb but I see these cross hybrid *insane* swaps as tuner shops looking to be the first in doing the swap or.. people with too much money on there hands and need to send me some.
Well we've beat the shit out of KA+t vs SR why not RB vs 2JZ <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
CAMPPAIN, if your reading this, the brakes robinlow is putting on is the ones I was thinking of...AP not APC, lol...I knew it started with an A. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'> Looks like I was wrong on the red tho...

Alex of SP Engineering put a 2jz in to a FD. BUT you have to look at it this way.
1. Alex ownes SP Engineering and has all the resources he needs. Especially SP being a HKS Pro dealer he has price support from them.
2. It took a long time and the whole firewall had to be shifted and complete custom subframe made.
3. Alex though one of the most down to earth guys I know has more money than......when his family goes to the bank to make a withdrawl the bank manager gets worried.
Alex owns a very respected TUNING shop and is a baller....so since most people don't own shops to do some crazy swap like a 2jz in a 240 you have to really be a baller.
