Lately I've been thinking about maintenance on my car. I'm getting ready to buy a house and am worried that I might not have too much extra cash left over for maintenance type stuff on my 240 for the next year or so.
I'm wondering though, aside from regular oil changes (every 3-5k miles for me), what do you do on a regular basis to keep your car running well and looking good?
I wash it once a week, wax it 3 - 5 times per year, change the oil regularly, use only premium gas (recommended in Owners Manual) and rotate the tires every other oil change. My car has 60k miles, and I'm not sure if the trans or diff fluid has ever been changed and I am not doing the 60k service. I will be changing the fuel filter soon but other than that..nothing.
What do you guys do?

My car has 90k miles on it. As preventative maintainance (since I don't really know what the last guy's done) I'm gonna be replacing:
o2 sensor
Fuel Filter (300zx tt)
PCV Valve
Rear Diff fluid
Tranny Fluid
(putting Redlyne fluids in drivetrain and AMSoil in the motor.)
--already replaced:
plugs
wires
air filter
Other than that visual inspections of other fluids, and hoses (radiator, and vacuum hoses) with replacement as necessary.
I change my motor oil every 2000-3000 miles.
As far as scheduled maint. after that I follow the FSM.

Basically keep a good visual on everything. I bought my car with 47k and am now at about 62k on my 93 240.
So far I have changed:
brake pads ($70 KVR carbon kev)
fuel filter (~$8)
trans fluid (~$20 Amsoil)
diff fluid (~$20 Amsoil)
brake fluid (~$10 ATE blue)
clutch fluid (free, used the brake fluid and had 1/4 bottle to spare)
tie rod ends ($70 MOOG)
spark plugs ($5 NGK)
spark plug wires ($50 Aurora from Don)
air filter (free K&N from a friend)
exhaust ($400 5Zigen fireball for fun)
Planned:
new dampers (konis)
new bushings (whiteline)
coolant (~$10 ??)
rotors (~$70 brembo blanks)
distributor cap and rotor (~10)
I think most of this is fairly typcial of things to at least check and maybe change (fluids especially). Everything on that list is pretty much covered in the 60k service at the dealership and i guaratee I used far superior parts, for equal to or less than it would have cost to take in. Really nothing stands out as being very expensive and many of those were in fine shape for street driving, but anticipating a summer of racing I figured better to be safe than sorry. Having lots of tools or friends with lots of tools helps too.
Really the little maintenence stuff is pretty cheap when compared to insurance, gas, and expensive consumables like tires and clutches.
