Im kinda new to the 240 Scene, more from the Corolla/86 scene myself, just looking for major things I should look for the on the car. Here is what I know so far:
No rust (according to present owner, but doubtful since it lived its entire life up north until mid 2005)
Fairly high mileage (about 185K)
AC Works, but has a leak somewhere, he is going to have it fixed before I buy it, not sure what it is
Driver side power window doesnt work (not sure of the cause)
Its an automatic, and its greenish blue...sorta... nobody damage, ingood condition all over from what he tells me.
Anything particular I should look for, usual problems these cars have, etc?

perfect then. 2950 is a steal for an s14 in thjat condition even it does have a little rust on it.

i wouldn't exactly call 3 grand a steal on a autamatic with close to 200,000 miles that needs work and probably has rust. BTW check the hose going into the top of the compressor, that is a common place for ac leaks, many hoses break there. if it's worth it to you buy it, if not, there are other 240's out there.
2006-1995=11
11x10,000=110,000
Don't do it. Wait out for another one, that has way too much milage.

I moved from the AE86 scene three years ago... I am pretty happy with my purchase...
like everyone said, mileage is kind of high, and I am thinking that the auto tranny is about to be toasted. you may want to look into a new tranny (manuel swap) some time soon.

listen to the engine and see if you hear a rattle. There's a thing with the timing chain and the timing guides. if the guides are still there and you hear a pretty loud rattle that means the timing guides werent' removed. With 185k? Miles on that engine the guides could be cracked depending on the condition of the engine so... you can imagine what broken timing guides would do to a timing chain.
Other common problems:
Broken 12v cig lighter
Air bag light (not 100% sure how common this is)
Broken pwr Antenna
The rubber crap around the front windshield peels off after age.
Some things you might want to look at since it's an "SE."
Oh yea, early model 95's come with OBDI and late Model 95's come with OBDII. Would be nice to have OBDII......
All SE's come with WHITE face gauges.
I think ALL SE's come with 5 lug.
Some SE's come with LSD and Some come with ABS.

Wow... I'm not doubting you, but make sure to look over the car everywhere.
Nothing jades the mind more than "NEEDING" a car.
Make sure you don't rush into things.
Aside from that, good luck.

Agree with !Zar!, nothing worse than rushing the purchase of a car. Specially if it's a car you'd be spending a lot of time and money on.

Well he is bringing it buy a couple hours, Ill make sure I go over it with a fine tooth comb before I buy it. Id rather not have a car for another week or two than have a car I have tospend thousands to maintain and all my free time fixing and repairing. I am rushed, but not stupid ;)

zilvia's limit for attaching pics is very small. you can host the pics on imageshack or photobucket and link them here.

if you need a car that bad, why not get a beater instead of a 240sx. you can get a s13 for relatively cheap or another car like a camry or somesort and then wait and save up for a 240sx that you did not have to compromise with. I did that and found me a sweet deal on a 97 240sx. I almost settle for a 93 coupe

for my area, this is actually quite a steal, there's about 10 S13's listed for up to 2K more than this car, and only 1 listed for less. As for pics, here you go:

get it, car looks clean
Well, it looks very clean. If the engine has been treated as good as the body/interior. I'd take it, but try to bring him down as much as possible.

HAHAHAHA, Dude, you must live near-ish to me, cause that one poped up on my regular autotrader search. You anywhere near Central Florida?
PS - Damnit... I wanted that one.... :(

Well I just bought it, paid $2800 cash, no clicking from under the hood, but the water pump has a small leak and needs to be replaced (hence the $150 off the 2950 he wanted). He showed me paperwork for brand new rotors and pads all around and showed me history of oil changes etc for the last 2 years he has owned the cars and it was done every four months. Only thing that catches my attention is after you park and let your foot of the brake, the car kinda "pops" a little, is that because of the new brakes, or is there something wrong I need to fix?
Other than that, it runs great, Im very happy with my purchase ^_^
omg now Im gonna start dreaming of a boosted SR20DET>> MEH!

Well now that I own this car, I have a question, how much is the front clip from a 98 Kouki Silvia and will it fit this car, Im assuming yes? And if so, how much modification is needed to make it fit?

^^^ Ok, let's not get carried away with new newb questions. SEARCH, kouki conversion has been covered into the ground. Go get the latest Modified mag, there in lies the answer to at least half of your question.
