OK i've been looking at downpipes for awhile and i was wondering why no one talks about the dumpubes with a split flange between the wastegate flap and the exit tube to the turbine. Is a split flange important or is it for emmissions? or horsepower? please help
also besides invidia is theree another single piece downpipe?

Do you mean turbo elbow? If so the ones that are split suck at clearance on usdm 240s. Hits the steering shaft.

Hmmm I am guessing you are running an SR. I below you are getting mixed up between the turbo elbow(turbo extension) and the downpipe. The downpipe connects to the turbo elbow which connects to the compressor side of the turbo. The elbow, has a separate chamber which greddy and HKS offer. Greddy has a split plate inside the elbow, where as HKS actually is two separate tubes which collect into a single downpipe. The split chamber is suppose to offer faster spool because it has less turbulence as it funnels down into the downpipe. The turbulence comes from the exhaust gas and internal wastegate. In theory they say separating it helps and that is why greddy and hks do it. No other company really does.
Downpipes are made by everyone almost lol. Megan, blitz, hks, greddy, tanabe, rsr.... pretty much every company has one. The trick is to find the one from japan, forgot to makes it, but instead a round pipe going into your cat or exhaust, it flattens out for better ground clearance. As per performance on a downpipe, I guess bigger is better? 3"? lol..... O btw, blitz is the only one that does mandrel pipe bends for their downpipes and exhaust. If you dunno what is mandrel bend, please google it.

i think the downpipe slider2828 is talking about is the CIRCUIT SPORT one... where its more like an oval than circular for ground clearance. you could find it on phase2, but its kinda pricey since its the only one at the moment

Pretty much the hotness, over at phase 2. But, if your worried about clearance the Greddy clears just fine, if your putting it on a GT28 turbo of anykind with the little devider in the exhuast housing you'll need to have a maching shop shave off some of the divider plate since greddy designed it to go into the stock turbo. I should know, I am running one. Bought it like two days before I saw the circuit sporst peice. Oh well.

Nah i was referring to this one as well invidia also makes the same thing but its only listed under 200sx/s14
SO this circuit sports downpipe works fine clearance wise?

as kidynomite said, they hit the steering shaft.
and the squarish ones are designed that way for more ground clearance.

Just get either a Blitz Dp or RSR, they're prolly the 2 best DP out there right now. Mate it to a Greddy elbow and be done with it.

Just get a cheap elbow and a cheap downpipe, make sure the elbow doesnt have a divider in it unless you don't mind cutting the divider off. I suggest the TF (Megan Racing) Flex downpipe. Its $100 with a flex section. And get a megan elbow, its cheap but works...
If you plan on slamming your car get the oval ones, but it will crush itself... I just wouldnt want to bother spending the money on one, and just buy another one if it ever gets the point of it being cracked.
