Well I'm trying to get together all the parts I'll need to finish up my upgraded turbo project. Setup consists of a GT30r .63, Peakboost manifold/downpipe, Greddy IM, etc...Now I had originally planned on going with a set of Tomei Poncams to help the head breathe a little better. My tuner thought this was a little mild for my setup though, and told me I might as well stick with the stock stuff. He recommended I go with the 260 Procams or, better yet, HKS 264 Step 2's. When I asked him about how this would interfere with the NVCS, he said as long as we retain the stock cam gears, it shouldn't be an issue. Any input on what cams would be best suited for my setup?

IIRC you can only use Stage 1's with NVCS.
Also, You would need upgraded Springs/retainers.

I've got the hks step 2 264/264 setup. I got them from phase 2 and i'm pretty sure you can get bigger than that. I'm running the 2871r and I think its definitely more than enough. I'm also using the peak performance valve springs.
edit: my nvcs still works great :) I have heard of them crapping out. A friend of mine told me to unplug it when I first started it up just incase but I didn't and everything is working fine.

Awesome! I was looking for some user feedback with these cams, thanks John. My tuner was actually saying the best setup would be 264/272 step 2's but I wasn't sure about how that particular staggered setup would affect the powerband. Think I may just go with the 264/264 step 2's to be on the safe side.
