I love my S13 with SR but then I'm afraid driving in it on the streets of Socal because of cops. I have Realize TT exhaust and I was below 4000 RPM when I got pulled over for exhaust (it wasn't loud).....I got a warning maybe because my mom was next to me.

One of my friends said that he hid the hood opener cable so when cop ask him to pop the hood he said he doesn't know how to open and got away with it.

Just wondering if anyone have experience got pulled over and got away with things? Maybe we all can learn a trick or two :)

If you drive normal and don't do anything stupid. I don't think cops will pull you over. But if they're having a bad day...I guess anything can happen.

Cops pull you over by the way you drive, how the car looks, and how the driver/passenger appearance is. My civic used to run without a catback for a couple months and there were times I was right next to cops side by side on stop lights. Still I haven't gotten pulled over. Lucky? Nope I haven't got pulled over in 3 years. I don't drive like a ricer, I guess thats what helps me.

It just depends on how the damn cop is feeling. Sometimes you run into assholes and most of the time, I must say, they don't care. Judgment is key grasshopper... Duck into a hood when you see a cop! Yeah we californian enthusiats are more scared of popo's than gangsters...haha But yeah That is tearing me away from a sr swap. Too risky..KA-T, here I come!!!

Cops in norcal are assholes, especially around san jose/berkely, worse places to get pulled over cuz of the "drag net" unit or whatever. You can get pulled over for being lowered and i guess apparently they can search ur car if they feel like it cuz it gives them "probable cause" just be cautious and avoid em if you can lol.

dont drive like an idiot and they wont pull you over
they get lied to a million x a day so dont think you can bs your way out of things
be honest, they appreciate it

I got pulled over for running a yield (WTF?), and argued with him for like 15 minutes because he claimed you need to come to a full stop, till he pretended to get a radio call and bounced.

dont drive like an ass and you'll be fine... ive had my sr for about a year now... and even when i had my loud exhaust on... i never got pulled over. also, if you run a stock lookin exhaust, the chance of him popping your hood is slimmer cause he has no probable cause

I'm running test pipe to a Buddy Club Spec II with a roll bar with no BOV. 3 months so far so good :crossesfingers: I would agree, driving an sr20det (or a modified car at all) in CA is only for those with true grit. I'm more scared of cops around here then gangbangers and drug dealers. And I see plenty of both.

My recommendation is stay off the street whenever possible, drive on freeways, and take main roads as much as possible. Drive slower the later at night it is, the less traffic there is the easier it is to spot you so don't give them something to see.

Make sure everything on your car works and is in good shape. Don't be stupid and get a ticket for having a headlight out like I did. Just don't give them a good reason to pull you over and usually they won't, but there will be exceptions.

if you cut off a van and do an illegal U turn in the rain too fast so the back end comes out, in your car with no reg and no insurance, pray that the two cop cars who just pulled you over get another call.

Just don't drive like an ass and you'll be fine. There are times though when you do get pulled over by cops who don't give a fuck, and will write you a ticket no matter what.

No problems here in Arizona :fawk:
Hell, I few months ago I paced a cop for three miles while I was running open downpipe with no hood, fenders, or bumper on my car, he just looked and turned onto a different road. :)

I've also been running on the temporary three day passes for the past..... 5 months, haven't gotten pulled yet :x:

I dont drive like a ahole, but normally. I got a ref ticket for my buddyclub + test pipe + hotshot headers + intake + removed emission + lowered car . My advice stay off CHP jurisdiction, city cops knows less usually + you get fix it tickets instead of REF/BAR tickets.

haha i think CHP cares less about the ricer movement, its the local popo's here who want to stop ignorant fools...apperantly we all are for our hobby. Also its true that you can't bs your way around a popo, just be straight up and they'll hate you less. Try and sound like your sad when a cop hits you up...apologize a lottttt and say you do not mean to disturb anyone...hahaha shit works, cop just told me to bring back my car to him with baffle on and he cleared it...waited hour and a half at court to pay 10 dollar fine though...so yes, I still hate him...

over here in so.cal some of the cops can be cool an dont wanna deal with the whole hassel of writing you up. but there are a chosen few, what i like too call "super cop's"who think they have too check everything under the hood and ask you what you have in your car . i use to have a 91 crx with a b-16,mugen kit, lowerd, with a apex-i exhaust ....to me i was just screaming pull me over. i was afraid as hell to drive it, because it did get me pulled over abuncha times, an i use to drive like my 75yr old grandfather.lolz man that car got me 3000 dollars in tickets and it got sent too ther ref. most of the tickets came from bored cops at like 3am an CHP(damn i hate those guys!!!) if you get pulled over by a city cop there's a chance you might get out of a ticket or might just get a fix it ticket but, if it's a CHP pray pray pray cuz they cold hearted.

i got pulled over when i was moving to davis. maybe my exhaust is loud? and the cop ask me if i have modified cat and intake, but the answer is no for me, keekee, coz i just put a cone filter on my intake with the stock intake pipe. and he asked me to pop the hood, and i did it also... at last, nothing happen and i have not get a ticket, lucky! i think that just co-operate with the cops is the best thing to do during you got pull over..

couple weeks ago i went out for some groceries around 1am and while making turn around a corner 2 cops were chilling behind a truck, next thing you know while im a mile and half away, they both speed up and sandwich me and pull me over. they then make me pop my hood and good thing all i had was an intake. next i get questions about my intake cone which made no sense to me. and then they tell me that my car is too low and that its considered dangerous and that they can take it off the road if they wanted too.

That isn't always true...if your are being an idiot they are not going to let you off.

If the cop truely wants to enforce the laws he will....out of state plate or not. The SR is not state legal....anywhere. That can be a cause for imound. Especially if you piss him off. Pull the "you have to have a search warrant" and he can hold you there on the side of the road and get one on probable cause. Don't try to outsmart law enforcment...there is always a trick up their sleeve. Trust me, I used to work for Riverside Sheriff Dept and my soon to be Brother in law is a detective in Cali. Don't argue...be polite...and if your wrong, hell, that is your own damn fault now isnt it?
