This question is for a project of mine where a VQ35 is going in a S14. With that said Im in the process of putting a T56 behind the VQ35. I already have someone lined up to make the bellhousing so that is not a problem. The next hurdle I have to jump comes down to the clutch. The 03-04 Cobra T56 I plan on using has a 1.0625"x 10T Spline Input shaft. However I can also opt for the much stronger Dodge Viper and F car 1.125"x26T Spline input shaft. The VQ35 uses a 250mm friction disc which comes out to 9.84" so a mustang or Viper friction disc will not work. I need a clutch for the VQ35 that will work with one of those input shafts. The flywheel does not need the crank sensor ring as I will be making a mount for a crank sensor off of the crank pully itself (I will cross that bridge when I get there) using a Ford style sensor ring. I have heard of people with 300ZX's doing a T56 swap. Anyone know what clutch they use and if it is compatible with the VQ35. Also is the flywheel pattern on the VQ35 the same as on anyother Nissan motor possibly with the spline pattern on the clutch hub I need. I also heard older Nissans used a T5 trans. Im pretty sure that the splines on the input shaft of the T5 and T56 are the same. I looked all over the internet and the info I need is pretty hard to come by. Any help woud be appreciated. I will post pictures when I get everything together. Oh and I know theres gonna be the typical answer of "its gonna be to expensive" or "its gonna take alot of work, custom fabrication". Dont worry... I know... trust me. The project is sucking the money and life out of me already. But I am one dedicated mother fucker. Its gonna be nuts when its done.

why don't you just stick Nissan and use the VQs 6 speed with the T5 and not have to worry about making a different bellhousing?

check www.my350z.com/forums there are a bunch of very VQ savy people there!! and i've seen a bunch of people with completely built VQs pushing +500whp and they have had no reason for a tranny swap. unless you are building a drag car that's putting down 700 hp then I would stick with the VQs 6 speed.

You could use the Z32 trans, minimal modification and stronger than the Z33.
Clutchnet could make you the disk. Get a Z32 disk with T-56 splines, you figure out the thickness and how to adapt the pressure plate to the T-56 trans. On Fresh Alloy someone has used a T-56 on an SR swapped 240. That person may be of some assitance, they obviously have figured out the disk thickness and PP debacle, search it up.

The VQ's 6spd trans is longer and has some fitment/ placement issues. T56 would probably a better fit since it's been done. :boink:

Z33 6MT has also been done. I'm s13 but if anything there is more room in the s14. Check homepage. Fred Allen on FA has done it in his s14.
