i finished my sr swap and i have a bunch of problems im looking to get fixed. ill just list them and if anyone has anything to say about any of them let me have it. thanks
1.smoke coming from head(where the breather filter goes on)
2.major popping and backfiring after about 2700 rpms. free rev, under no load, revs beautifully as high as you can take it.
3.only 10psi of vacume reading on my boost gauge(should be around 20, correct?)
by the way this is a s13 redtop into my s13, z32 maf, 480 inj. hks 2510 turbo, currently just running open DP. when i got it to actually boost decent one or 2 pulls it was FAST and im only boosting 10psi right now. couldnt even hook in second. tried timing, alot. i am running a safc 2.

is it actually tuned correctly? and are your in and out right for the z32 maf?

the in and out is good on the safc is good and the fuel is set at -25 or somewhere around that(370 to 480). my friend check spark plug gap, then when we were driving the battery died so he thought maybe that battery was weak and could be a problem(did it to his talon when he had a bad battery, couldnt boost much) there are a few pinholes in my IC pipe, around a few welds but nothing big enough to cause the problem i dont think. did a pressure test and everything seems sealed except a few pinholes. maybe grounds?

check you pcv valve, if its an intake backfire at higher rpm must be pcv, but that is unless your shit in not tuned right. good luck

this is why I do one mod at a time, to pinpoint the problem. Stock sr takes very little to "tune" but when you add all the goodies to the mix, well then you got some probs. hope it all works out, osrry but I cant tell you any advice, besides that I thought for the longest time that my SAFC was tuned right, when infact it was FAAAR off. I had someone double check it for me, you might be more knowledgable than i was about it when i started, but its just a suggestion.

dyno tuning with someone that knows their SAFC II's is money well spent. i have no clue how to work mine, but my tuner set it and i never worry about it. and you would be suprised at how the smallest leaks can cause the biggest problems. never underestimate the ability of a SR to be a bitch because of something minor. smoke out the breather on the valve cover sounds like a clogged PCV. Usually it will cause your dipstick to shoot out and spurt oil all over. just replace it, 19mm at autozone for $3. Ass far as the popping goes, have you tried swapping the MAFS or the TPS? sorry but this shits hard to pin point, welcome to the SR world.

i didnt have a tuner set my safc, but i just did the 480/370=1.29-1=.29 which means my fuel should be set at -29%.(if thats wrong, someone chime in. and i set my maf to the in 2 out 6(s13, z32 maf combo). timing has been very hard to set exactly. it seems kinda jumpy, expecially with the tps unplugged. im gonna get new spark plugs double check the gap, change my pcv valve, get a better battery, fill the few tiny pinholes in my ic piping. if that doesnt help anything then im out of ideas. im also gonna double and tripple check my timing. i didnt the mech. timing 2 times now(taking out the cas and putting it in the right way, what ive read is the right way, both times)

i really dont know shit about tuning, but i am pretty sure my s13 blacktop with q45 MAFS and stock 370cc's is set to +15 with my SAFCII.

yeah, stock injectors and bigger maf you should have to be up a little. bigger injectors should be negative, but sence i have the z32 i might not have to be a full 29%

Ok first, 1- (370/480) = .229 == 23%. Thing is, you have to compensate for injector dead time. So although the injectors flow 23% more, your corrections at idle should still only be around negative 12-15%. Second, it sounds like your MAF is wired incorrectly and you have a vacuum leak somewhere.
