I recently blew up my ka24e and got anotherone installed in there from my old 89 hatch (along with tranny). Thing is now the clutch pedal is really mushy and takes no effort to push in at all. I know the clutch itself is still good because i had just replaced it in my old car and its not slipping at all. Now here is where things get weird... When im on the highway or something and try to downshift from say 5th to 4th it will grind really bad and not go into gear. I have to leave it in neutral pull all the way over to a complete stop and then put it in first and itll go right in gear like normal. It will also downshift on the street as long as im going really slow. Please help!

inspect the clutch line that runs from the hard line to the slave cylinder, if the rubber line is still good bleed the clutch line, if not get a new one or a SS line and bleed the system. If its still no good, get a new slave cylinder and bleed system again... finally you still have the problem get a new clutch master cylinder or rebuild it and bleed system once more...
BTW resize the pic in ur sig.. its HUGE

Remove the clutch damper. Slap on a braided line. Bleed it. See how it works after that.

Also, your sig is huge. You may want to resize the picture before a mod gets on your case.

Sounds like you have a bad clutch master cylinder and/or bad slave cylinder. Check the fluid on the slave end. If it is not perfectly clear (assuming you've not replaced it), then probably your master is worn out. I had the same symptoms you describe and that's what it was - master cyl. Its pretty simple to replace, but kinda spendy. Might as well replace the slave cyl too because those are cheap. When the master goes, so does the slave because of the metal particles travel downstream and wear it out too. Also, if you do replace, just bleed it properly as well. Good luck...

have someone push your clutch in and out while you watch the slave. check for good movement and make sure it is not leaking. if both cases are found to be true then you can basically assume the slave is good. sounds like you need to just bleed it first and remove that damper box with the clutch loop and connect the line to your slave directly. you can also check on your firewall to see if your mc is leaking anything. always start with bleeding, and it may take a while.
