My lap belt in my 90 240 broke today. It wont retract. If I take to a Nissan dealer do they have to fix it for free?

Will that also work if the motors go out?? My passenger side always gets stuck and usually has to be force forward.

Yep. Anything related to the seatbelts are covered under their lifetime warranty.

I had the car in for 90K service and they decided to replace the belt buckles for my car free. I think the only thing wrong with them was the fact that they "looked" dirty.

So just take your car in, if the motor/rail is not working they will replace it with new parts.

I have read a few people getting denied by Nissan if their had a SOHC (89-90) but I can't confirm.

I just got of the phone with the service guy from the dealer. He said the 89 and below aren't covered ..then i told him I had a 90, and he said he would look into it more, and call me back.

If they won't do it, I have some stock lapbelts lying around in my garage if you want. $10 + shipping. :)

Just take the car in and have them look at it. More than likely they'll take care of it. It's in their best financial interest in not doing it because Nissan pays for the service (at a much lower rate than customers are charged). Basically the dealership and the mechanic don't make nearly as much money for doing it.

Wow this is great news to hear! Both of my auto shoulder belts on my 92 are broken. The driver side is locked all the way forwards and the passenger side locked all the way back. I was thinking the manual belt conversion or upgrading a 5 point was the only way to get this repaired.

Thanks ...appreciate it. I'll try my best to get them to do it, but if they wont I'll take you up on that deal.

well because of this thread I headed down to check on this at the dealership.

They said anything 89 and newer is covered except for obvious damages, but things like broken parts and electrical are covered.

So I made an appointment for next tuesday at 9am. woot

Seats? Negative. Maybe the buckles that bolt to the seat, but not the seats.

I have the original 1989 owners' manual for my car, and it specifically states that seatbelts have a lifetime warranty. I would go into the stealership armed with that information, personally

yea, I went to the dealership about a summer ago because my Drivers side seatbelt motor took a crapper. I got quoted about 200 dollars at some repair shop and I said fuck that. I flew by my local Nissan Dealership, and they almost died laughing at me about how I almost got ripped off.

To my understanding, these seatbelt motor and their functionality have a life time warranty under the dealership. My 240 is a 90, so im not too sure about that whole 89 and below arent covered. But its definetely worth taking a shot at. Good Luck

Dousan_PG, what page did you find that they're on lifetime warranty in the manual?

I can't believe I just read all these posts. Welcome to over 15 years ago guys. Did every 240 owner just crawl out from under a huge fucking rock or something?

Guess what, these cars have wheels on them too. And they turn in a circular motion when the car rolls.

I feel dumber just by being on the same forum with people this ignorant.

I agree with R240NA, this information is old and could have been found with a simple search. People, you really need to search before posting a question that has been covered many times before.

What shocks me more is that no one has suggested simply swapping in S14 or Sentra 3 point seat belts and getting rid of the automatic pieces of crap the S13s came with. The install is very simple and doesnt take very long. Do a search and you can find more information on this swap.

Yes so its true. The dealer said yes they will replace it. He also mentioned that 89 and below don’t get this. Despite the typical you should of searched for it button guys this is still good information for people to know, because obviously a lot of people didn't know. Thanks for all your help guys. Oh yea and thanks Nissan, most manufactures don’t do this like ford and chevy. :rawk:
