I have a set of enkei mesh 4 lug rims off a 1st gen rx-7 ('83). The bolt pattern is very similar to the 240s (wide 4), but the holes on the rim need to be slightly widened in order to mount them. I was wondering if anyone has widened holes on rims in order for them to fit? Does anyone have suggestions? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
KEN

The lug pattern is 4x110. You can widen them. Why not just get rims that FIT?

You could bore it sideways 2mm with a dremel and use small lock nuts so that the nuts still fit in the newly 2mm shifted holes. I don't know how safe redrilled wheels are.

Don't do it! Trade with somebody that needs them. Wheels to fit 1st gen 7's are as hard to find as s13 wheels. Do't know how shipping to/from Guam is, but I've got so 15x6 teardrops in very good shape if you wanna trade...

OH JESUS don't drill those wheels. I'll buy 'em. I got a FB RX-7 right hurr. 4x110 is hard to come by.

It is very hard to find meshies here & the rims are coming off a rust bucket of a 7. The best part is that they are free.
Thanks,

I bought a set of enkei mesh from an FB as well but for only $150! :bigok: I can't wait to put those bad boys up for sale on ebay.

I was taking a closer look at the rims today and noticed that I didn't need to widen the hole, it looked like there was a sleeve in the hole. I took a socket and a hammer and took off the sleeves. The rim now mounts on the car, but the studs (all four) are off to the corner. I used some aftermarket lug nuts (The skinny kind) and mounted them on the car to see what they look like. I am still thinking of a way to make sure that these are centered. I will continue to investigate further tomorrow. BTW, please continue to put up your suggestions & opinions.
Thanks

Just make sure that the lug nut goes all the way down into the groove and tightens really well. I would suggest to buy some 4x114.3 to 4x110 adapter/spacers to save you from your wheels falling off on the interstate. Browse the internet and browse eBay for them. They should run about $80 a pair.

Rx-7 enthusiasts everywhere are crying out in horror.. right now...
You have just A) ruined a good/valuable set of wheels and B) Made them DANGEROUS to use/mount. Those "sleeves" were the steel inserts that kept them from cracking when the lugs were tightened.
Thanks for listening to our advise...

Let me explain further before you get ahead of yourself. A) I mounted the rim on a car that was up on jack stands. B) The lug nuts were not torqued down (because of the sleeve removal), just hand tightened so I can see them on the car. C) The rim has been removed and "sleeves" re-inserted. D) Not interested in a trade. D) I was looking for advice not sarcasm.
BlackSilEighty,
I am looking for adapters locally. If I don't find any, I will probably sell.

just out of curiosity, why are you so against selling those wheels and buying a similar set of wheels with a 4x114.3 pattern?

The spacers will be hard to find since 4x110 is pretty much only used on older Mazdas. If you find the right spacers you can put any wheel on earth on any car safely. How well do 13's fit on a 240 BTW? I had 14's on my car for a drift event a while back and they seemed like they barely fit.

OMG for real... You could have either sold those wheels on ebay or a rx7 forum for BANK or traded them for some very nice 4x114 wheels. I don't get why you ask for advice but then don't heed it.

they don't fit your car. just sell them to me.
1st gen RX7 wheels arent even that nice to spend all this work on. sell them to someone who actually needs them, they're rare. then buy an ACTUAL SET OF WHEELS THAT FIT YOUR DAMN CAR

WHOA there buddy:jerkit: BTW, they were 15in Enkei Meshies from a 1st gen RX7 & they have been sold.
i like how you make the jerkoff motion, and then did exactly what I (and everyone else) said to do.

If you look and read, I stated in an earlier post that I was probably going to sell them. Thanks for your "input".

i redrilled some wheels once. it was enough to get the wheels on, but the studs bent by doing so one of the wheels, since they weren't drilled out quite enough. 3 of the studs broke when i removed the wheel.
and what's this nonsense about can't find 4x100 spacers. ever heard of 4-lug hondas?

I said it would be hard to find 4x110 spacers, not 4x100.

dont drill them unless you get it professionally drilled. Drilling it yourself will cause balance issues. (wheel hop)

It's cool :D 4x100 spacers are aplenty on the good 'ol eBay though. 4x110 would probably have to be custom done and cost an arm and a leg.

Arms & Legs aren't worth much these days.

Right, if you couldnt find adaptors for the wheels you probably already ruined. :fawk2:
