although it may seem like Cali has them all, but I see the same amount you see in NH. I mainly only see old people driving 240's. I have only seen a few locally that are modded. Also, take the size of CA vs NH.

You also have to remember that socal especially was a hotbed for 240 sales in U.S. it was one of the prime markets. A high percentage of the 240 sales numbers were sold here followed by the bay area.

IIRC there is an SOHC coupe in lambert's yard in hooksett, nh.
While low key, there is a small group of us up here. There is a local (New England) forum at 240sxone.com (http://forums.240sxone.com) the forums aren't nearly as large, or as technical as some of the better known ones, but there will be more people that you may actually meet.

Heh, you think NH is bad, try Vermont! I'd say the reason the 240 didn't sell well in NE was the fact that it's a light rwd sports car, and that doesn't work well with the messy/snowy winters. Check out www.240sxONE.com for more New England 240 owners. (sorry mods if its not cool to link another forum)

But the beuty of NH is we get to run around with 300hp ca's and 400hp sr's....and we aint gotta worry bout shit. Cops, smog, high theft, none of it!

I've tried to figure out auto trends in the NE for quite some time now -- I have a theory. It might be stupid and overly simplistic, but let's start with the facts:
Fact: California is closer to Japan.
Fact: North East USA (NY, CT, MA, VT, NH, ME) is closer to Europe.
Speculation: It is easier/cheaper to get Japanese goods in California and it is easier/cheaper to get European goods in the North East.
-----
Fact: There is a larger population (percentage-wise) of European descendents in the North East.
Fact: There is a larger 2nd+ generation Asian population in California.
Speculation: Americans respond to cars that represent their heritage or the dominant heritage of their community.
-----
Fact: Japanese domestic market cars had a wider, better, more desirable selection of engines and performance options than were offered in the USA.
Fact: European domestic market cars had a wider, better, more desirable selection of engines and performance options than were offered in the USA.
Fact: Due to cultural mores and government regulations, Japanese autos are considered junk in Japan after 10 years.
Fact: Europeans tend to value their cars highly. The lifespan of ownership of a vehicle in Europe is often greater than 10 years. In fact, it is common to see well-maintained older cars on the roads of western European countries.
Fact: Since there is a big supply of used JDM cars and parts, there is a large demand for them in the USA thus the price is low.
Fact: Since there is not a big supply of used Euro cars and parts, there is a small demand for them in the USA thus the price is high.
Fact: Most of these parts are large and expensive to ship across the continental USA.
Speculation: It is cheaper to buy used American market European parts than used JDM parts in the North East.
-----
Another theory is that over the last 10 years, most North East S13s have been dissolved by our heavily salted roads.

There's plenty of 240's in the Northeast, just seems less since you only see the majority of them on the road about 7 months outta the year. I'm in southern Maine and there's at least 15 240's in the immediate area, half of them are s14's. I think it's just for some reason most of the 240 owners up here don't frequent any of the forums.... too busy w/ the "cows and corn" I guess.

.
this fact is wrong , Japanese considered cars old and time to replace after 5 years not 10. It also has nothing to due with cultural mores. It has to do With Goverment regulations and Insurance regulations. The reason for this pratice was to keep the public buying there own domestic product. It has been drilled into the populances heads for long enough that they accept it.
