I painted my needles with a Transparent Red Paint, and put Amber bulbs in the cluster, looks close to a 350, I'll take some pics tonight.

Ok 240 Guys..... Let's see how much you REALLY know about our cars. Question of the day...... What's wrong with the Brake Master Cylinder??????

power numbers?

Nice job very clean. Just a tip, I think you need to widen that hole you drilled where your battery bay is. Its too snug, over time it will damage your pipe. Just a suggestion. Other than that great job.

You bent the lines away and over the top but the MC still looks too f*in close to that turbine.
In fact, doesn't even look like a 240 MC.
Be carefull with that dude.. Use high heat brake fluid, put some kind of insulation to keep the head away..
And on the turbo attaching to the mani.. why does it look like it doesn't line up?
Other then that, looks good. Like the vacuum distribution block. Good job. How much boost? How do you like it?
EDIT: No, I'm pretty sure that isn't a 240 master cylinder. Our MCs have the 2 lines going in to the front on top, not on the side like that. And the reservoir design is completely different. That is a larger, more cylindrical shaped res. versus the longer, more elliptical shaped OEM 240 ones.
What do I win?!

Put a heat shield in between the master cylinder and the turbo... they're too close. You don't want your fluid to boil :p
Mc lines are bent

I think I might fab up some kind of plate to go around it.

just a little FYI - you do realize that the reason people put the "No 56k" jokes in the title is for when the pictures are actually high quality and large which would take a 56k internet user forever to download. they aren't supposed to be used when posting low quality 35KB pictures.
nice work on the car though.

Isn't that a RHD brake master cylinder? BTW Good job bro KA-T's rock.

Yep, everything the others have said. More shielding, more room for the IC piping. Also, personally, I don't like how you have the gauges and electronics mounted. But it's your car, so enjoy it.

yay! Did you use a kit or pieced them together?? Numbers?

Looks like he pieced it together. Nice job. We want dyno numbers!

Did you tap your manifold to read TIP? Edit: oh it looks like that's a sensor for EGT/Pyrometer... Right?
Is it a RHD master cyl?
I agree with others about putting some kind of shield (even some of that heat tape would work i guess, I bet u still have some laying around) between that turbine and the MBC. And/or get the turbine housing ceramic coated, that would help some.
I think the turbo/manifold look mismatched because the manifold is probably dual drilled for T2/T3 or T3/T4 flanges? My HKS manifold is like that too (T3/T4)...
the HKS catch can is kinda cool don't think I've seen one of those recently. And I dig the vac distribution block.
All in all I think your setup is pretty cool you should be proud of it man! :D

Well, when we put the turbo on, the brake lines were in the way, so, we used a master cylinder off of a 90 d21 nissan pickup! Works fine. The reservoir is the same though.
I'm going to make a shield tomorrow and I'll post some pictures when it's done. Also, I'm going to make the hole for the cold pipe bigger.
As for the manifold, it's a Rev Hard, (Which I'm sure most of you know) It was only tapped for a T4 so I got the local machine shop to tap it for a T3, and they tapped it for the EGT.
I was going to Buy the Turbonetics off of JGS's site for $670 I believe, T-60. But, one of my friends has this turbo at his house, Brand new GReddy T3, he gave it to me for $200, so I couldn't pass that up. As you can see it's setup for a internal wastegate, but, he has a block off plate for it, and I put a Tial 38mm on the manifold.
As for the Dyno, I just got a SPEC stage 3 clutch and I have a 450 mile break in. As soon as that's over, I'll get some numbers for you guys.
As for the 56K joke, I'm fully aware why ppl do that. I did it because there is an ass of pictures!!!!
Thanks for the constructive criticism on the install.

Wohooo!! I was right! It wasn't a 240MC at all!!

snaps, the gauges looks very well done +1 for you for originality. what bulbs did you use? ohh yeah the kat looks nice too:yum:
240silvia
03-09-2006, 11:53 PM
The bulbs are 194 Amber bulbs. I got the paint at a local hobby shop. It's actually paint for RC cars. I like it a lot. They are almost identical to my friends 350.

so u used lexan paint on the needles and just used amber bulbs for gauge cluster??

Very nice, I've been thinking of going yellow/amber for sometime with my S14 but seeing those pics really sell me on it! :) Our 944 had yellow guages and my friends 350 does two and I love it -- came out very well on your S13.
So whats the deal with the brake MC, it isnt a stock 240 one I know for sure, the lines are routed differantly and it has a cylintrical reservoir, which looks to be modded onto whatever MC that is. ...wait, is that a MC/Res from a 200sx (S12)?
EDIT: Nevermind - I just saw you used it from a hardbody -- I think they utilize the same MC/Res.

setup looks good - how do you like using the profec B II?
240silvia
03-10-2006, 08:08 AM
The profec is ok so far. I'm still in the break in period of my clutch, so I haven't been able to mess with it to much. As soon as my break in is over, I'll give you an update.

I put some 1200 degree black paint on the plate. That's the highest I could find. Anyway, like always.... feedback bitches.

03-10-2006, 06:08 PM
My feedback would be get a different manifold. Even if you have 3/4" of clearance, or just enough to fit a heat shield in there or whatever between the turbo and bmc, I still don't think it's enough. Even with a heat shield, you're still going to cook your fluid. You may not boil it, but you're definately heating it up a lot.
240silvia
03-10-2006, 08:06 PM
well I still have to bleed my brakes from the different MC. So when I do that I'm going to put some high heat brake fluid in there. I drove around for an hour today and when I stopped I put my hand on the MC where it was closest to the shield, and it wasn't hot at all. It's not my manifold, it's my turbo. If I would of gotten an "On-Center" turbo, like I should have, I wouldn't of had that problem at all.

hey dont put exhaust wrap on teh resivor...put hieat shielding on it. exhaust wrap keeps heat in. it doent shield as well as actuall heat shielding but that panel will help out greatly

wait a second... did you drill into your brake booster for that heat shield?
Its hard to see the pic

If you did.. get a new booster.

lol, come on guys. You mean to tell me that I'm capable of intalling a pieced together turbo kit, and I'm going to drill into my booster for a heat shield?? Come on, give me some credit! I used the bolt on the left side of the master cylinder. You can see that in the 1st and 3rd picture.

Can you add a very small scoop on the hood so it goes right over it and lets cool air get to it?
Im talking very small scoop and low key, not like a 280Z one.
NemeGuero

I plan on doing just that for my setup. Haven't found a scoop I like yet.
Maybe a louvered panel...

looks good man. when i helped my buddy out with his sr swap. the holes we cut out for the ic tubbing we got some new vacum hose from the auto part store. and cut it down the middle then wraped it arond the hole we cut out for the the ic piping would be protected by the rough edges and it gives it a real clean look. but awsome job man.

although you could have brought the heat shield up a lil' more and some around the turbo ,ahh but that might get heat soaked, good job
