I need to pull this dent in order to pass inspection in this god-forsaken bible belt called georgia - my tags are from california and have been expired since sept/2005. the door needs to look flush with the rear panel and the door jamb needs to be pulled out so it will hit the secondary stage on the latch and activate the seat belt. Ive looked at unispotters and the 'punch a hole' pullers and they both seem to do purdy much the same thing.... which is to put a whole bunch of holes in the quarter panel. any suggestions appreciated.

sorry, I dont have any close ups so this will give an idea of the damage.

Go from the inside with a rubber mallet. Or just try shoving something from the inside of the panel to push it outwards.

^ i agree, shouldnt be hard to push from the inside, but be careful, the metal will stretch fairly easily!

take a sandbag, or beanbag and line it up to the area you are beatin on, and hit it instead of dead on the metal, that will save you from having little divots on the outside

i believe the inside part is boxed in because of the seat belt motor... just wondering if the dent pullers are worth a shot or will they destroy the panel?

no they wont destroy the panel, but "drill and insert" one will, obviously, leave holes you will need to patch up......they do make a spot weld dent puller, it uses little nails that go in its tip that you touch to the panel then hit a button and automatically weld on, then u use a slide hammer on them.....try to get your hands on one of those.

Plunger. Suction it to the outside and pull. Try a couple times. If that doesn't work.. drill into it and pull on the screw till it comes out. Use leverage.

^^^ Agreed.

You'll be able to get 90% of that out from the inside...with a little ingenuity. Beat it gently with a rubber mallet, use a 1x2 board to pry, etc...it'll come out pretty well, with not much effort. Just a little time.

Does no one believe me on the plunger trick?
It's worked well on my sister's Tercel.

I have a 4" circular dent puller. It suctions to the outside, you tighten it down, and give a few persuasive pulls. It isn't perfect, but it's worth looking into. It was like $10 from Kragens.

Yea, what pignose said.

You can buy like a $5 suction cup from Murray's or Pep Boys that locks onto big dents (such as yours) and you just pull.
