View Full Version : IM ALIVE... dodged death 2 times in 3 days.

yes thats right you heard me.
on tuesday I had a really bad alergic reaction and was coverd in hives from head to toe and was shaking so bad i could not control it and was having a hard time breathing.
my girl called 911 and the ambulance got to me just in time to give me a shot of something. they said if they would have been any later I could have died. they rushed me to the hospital and we were unable to find out what caused it.
so today Im on my way to work and there was some trafic on the 57 freeway right next to angle stadium and some dude slammed into the back of my car doing about 40+mph and i was at a dead stop.
knocked me out for a few min and i was awaken by the CHP they had me slowly drive my car off the freeway with police escort and they had to pry the door open to get me out.
so far im just brused up pretty bad and really tender. the guy that hit me took off and thankfully somebody followed him and called the police. they arrested him and he is now in jail.
to bad he had a suspended DL and no insurance. we hope to find out of the car he was driving was owned by somebody else and we can sue the owner of the car to help pay for my car and my medical bills.
so looks like im made out of something more than just flesh and blood :} Im so happy to still be around.

.
Glad you are OK. Anaphylactic shock is very scary. The worst part is you don't know what caused it and it can happen anytime. Do you have lots of allergies? This has happened to me 3 times in my life. Twice when I was a kid, and then just last Thanksgiving at my dad's house which resulted in an ambulance ride to the hospital. I think it was caused by this nasty moldy fan W/ dog hair that I had blowing right at my face when I tried to go to sleep. My dad's house is pretty dirty, and I will never sleep over there again. I now have an epi-pen. Its an emergency hypedermic preloaded with a shot that stops the reaction. I should carry it with me 24/7, but its big and you can't leave it in the glovebox of your car because of the heat. I feel safe in clean enviroments like home and work, but I do bring it when I go on trips away from home or in the woods. I hope I never need it.

dam man, glad your ok tho. yah 57 and la county freeways are a pita around rush hour, but hella fun to drive around 1am when no one is on em.
to bad he had a suspended DL and no insurance. we hope to find out of the car he was driving was owned by somebody else and we can sue the owner of the car to help pay for my car and my medical bills.
Dude, dont do that if the owner of the car is not related to him. My mom had a similar situation where the cops where chasing some someone and the suspect crashed into my moms car, it was parked on the side of the house. The car was stolen and the guy jumped through some backyards and escaped. So its not fair to the actual owner of the car if it is stolen or something. Anways, sorry to hear about your rough week, its not your time yet. :)
ps. this should probably be in the OT section.

i dunno if this is relevant, but when i was a little kid my parents took me to a doctor and they did these allergy tests. like, they shot my arm with like a small portion of stuff that i could possibly be allergic to like cat and animal dander etc. when you get better it might be a good idea to get a test like that done and avoid whatever you're allergic to like the plague.
last year i accidently ate this breakfast pastry with peanuts and i had to leave school in a stretcher so yeah i can relate on that.
on a sidenote it is good to hear you're alive and still in one piece. hope you get better soon bro. oh yeah what kind of car was your moms?

03-03-2006, 02:20 PM
yes i got that done, they poked my back 20 times and drew dots on the poke so my back was covered in dots, then in the hole they poke, they put shit like cat hair and trees and grass and penuts and motor oil and ok maybe not motor oil but then ur back swells and they find out what ur allergic too its fun. i was really little when they did it so i dont remember much but maybe they just inject stuff o odnt know.

03-03-2006, 03:41 PM
hell no im not letting them do that to me :{
i know im not alergic to cats or dogs cause i have 2 dogs and 2 cats :}
so far we are unsure if its something i ate or something i came in contact with but I now have 2 epi-pens one at work and one my girlfriend carrys in her purse for me.
got my car out of the impound today and its FUBAR pretty bad it was a 96-7 buick skylark, the cops said he musta hit me doing 40mph+, enough to hit me on the rear drivers side and spin me around ina 360. they had to pry the door open to get me out of the car. I should have pics of the car up when i get the film developed.
good news is my 240 is almost out of the shop should have it back in 2hrs i hope.

03-04-2006, 12:21 AM
I dunno man, you SHOULD get allergy tested, especially if it's food related. Because like you said, if you would have gotten to the hospital any later, you would have been dead.
It's not that bad, they poke both of your arms (at least for me it was the arms) and you can SEE the results for yourself (unless they did it on your back, then you can't see, der...).
Couple of days of slightly soreness from needle poking barely through your skin beats being dead.

I've had a bad 2 weeks myself. My wheels get stolen... Go $300 overdrawn in the banking account... Someone plowed into my wife's car in the apartment parking lot... I almost got attacked by about 20 black widows in my garage... I hit a big rock by a new subdivision being constructed and my backup tires completely go south on me (doing 50mph). Bald from drifting at the speedway... I spun out 3 times in the middle of the road and slammed into the curb smashing the lip on my Version Select bumper in 2 places causing emergency surgery on it and curb rashing my "new" Riken meshies. And to top it off the company still hasn't even shipped my new wheels! I hope this next week is better!

Yeah I took some spray paint to the little bastards. It's all I had handy that would be a long distance weapon, lol. One of them tried to make a run for it but I smooshed her with my sledge hammer, hehe. Most guts I've ever seen come out of a bug.
How poisonous are black widows?
And why would you sue the owner of the car if he wasnt driving?! Thats kinda messed up.
Also what was he driving to hit you doing 40+ and then just drive away?

They are very deadly. Only good thing about them is that they are pretty timid and don't waste their venom for some stupid BS. More venomous then brown recluese.... People have had to get body parts amputated from brown recluese bites. The venom deissolves your tissue into goo. Not sure what black widow venom does.
omnikron1307
03-04-2006, 11:15 PM
i've always heard that a black widows venom, shocks your nervous system and makes all your muscles contract like crazy. I've been told it would feel like a thousand super massive charlie horses on every inch of your body, then you cant breathe or something and you die. sucky way to go... and one of the few perks of living in the frozen tundra, winter's good for a few things.
although i guess we seldom have brown recluses, but they are very rare, which is good cause spiders scare the crap outta me.
sorry to hear about what happened to both of you guys too, that's some rough times.

he was driving something like a late 80's early 90's oldsmobile he swrived when he hit the back of me so it hit the back of his car.
cops said he did not get far off the freeway before his car died.

if somebody was letting them drive their car, then its their responsibility for what happens when that person is driving that car.

Happened to me too. I was allergic to amoxicillin (which i was taking for my wisdom teeth) but didn't know until I stopped taking steroids (which reduced swelling)... steroids cover up allergic reactions.
But I stopped it in time b/c i noticed i began to see little red dots on my face and arms. My windpipe didn't close but I was a red as a lobster (literally).
BTW: They injected you with adrenaline to open up your windpipes.
