So on my daily drive into work, I pass by Irwindale speedway. Knowing that D1gp is coming soon, I took a peek into the speedway to look for any cars/teams setting up. I caught a glimpse of Taka's AE86 which was cool enough, but then I look back across the street and bam! There's the Blitz Skyline on a trailer at the entrance to the speedway. Sweeeeeeet!:hitit:
That just got me excited about this weekend, it should be a good one!

D1 Sucks since they've made it to the states. .. .there are to many colors. .. .
I like it when they had their own cars reppin their flower shops & local smoke lounges, talkin shit. .. .then ripping it up on their own tracks. .. .then going back to compare their skills by. .. shit talkin in specs. .. .
BIG UPS D1 2000-2003, I was at 03' The first one to make it here, before they blew up with all the girls, lol. .. .thats the only reason you'll see me there this year, if I get the cash to go. .. .lol

I'll be there. I might not be driving though; I ain't getting jacked.
I only go in order to entertain my girlfriend's younger brothers, meet cats, look at some of the cars and talk to some of the drivers. Oh and the crashes. After you see one of them, you've seen them all. (with the exception of Rod Millen's driving @ US vs. JPN. that was a LEGEND.)
You always leave with a sore throat because of the tiresmoke. expect traffic, guys. and I don't think there's gonna be more posers, but i wouldn't be surprised if there were: I saw 2 accidents 2 blocks away @ the last US vs. JPN event, and they were both at left-turn lights.

Samuel tore it up and IMO should have advanced to the finals.

Those who look at D1 in this matter obviously have not driven to that level, or have not progressed enough to full realize what you are stating. It;s comparable to you not wanting to go into the NBA because it's 'ricer' and mainstream. HUSH!!!

Correct.
Did anyone else notice that Samuel and Vaughn were driving like they hated eachothers guts? Is there some sort of rivalry there?
Also, I was glad Sam got knocked out, he had poor sportsmanship the entire time (plus the white trash people behind me kept yelling " GO SAM, TAKE OUT THE *ASIAN DURAGATORY WORD*!). When defeated by Kumakubo, they showed the video of him throw down his gloves in anger, and then give Kubo one of the most BS handshakes of all time. I'm not a fan of Hubinette.

See, that's just showing lack of sportsmanship, and sad to say, a lot of Americans are like that. I'm glad Sam got knocked out becuase he was just showing off when he wasnt competing while the Japanese gguys were just cool in thier warm up laps and such. And damit Koguchi, he just had to crash his new car. I wanted to see him drift that thing. Grrr...

lol. Do you remember with taniguchi crashed at the first D1? He was a lot angrier and threw his gloves down harder than Hubinette. Do you really blame him? The fact that he even went up there to shake his hand shows that he IS somewhat sportsmanlike. Sure, he was burning out while in line, but what makes you think he wasn't just trying to warm up/ burn the out layers?
I'm with you on the white people thing though. that did piss me off.
He has good style, dude. Gittin could have gotten higher if he weren't paired up with Sam.

I don't think that Sam showed lack of showmanship. It could be more frustration on what he could have done. But then again what do I know, I can be wrong.
He battled a driver with more experience, and it showed by Kumakubo taking the big bank with less angle for more speed to battle it out near the judges' stand. His plan of attack was interesting.
I wanted to see more Ueo and Hibino, they kick ass!
What happen to Rhys, I wanted to see him run his new car. Or did he have a new car (charger)? It would have been sick. Next to that, seeing his father advance was so cool. But I wish he would have made it to the battle rounds.

He should have a new GTO back shortly. It has been at GM for a while. They still don't have the Solstice they're supposed to campaign either.
And Sam DID show sportsmanship IMO. After getting pushed out like he did (those who were there know what I mean), he showed a lot of restraint.
And skill? He was the only one to CONSISTENTLY keep the rear of his car within a foot or so of both walls.

meh, found it very disrepectful of the american cars to be burning out and revving all over the place. from the opening ceremony to the top 16 parade...
in every practice lap in the tsuiso that guittin did and sam did, they were just showing off, while the rest of the japanese drifters were actually studying the course/staging up their opponents...
imo americans were too cocky

I don't think you were here for the first one. They were all doing the same shit too. Jebus, did you ever see Tarzan Yamada when he went crazy every time? hahahaha
they were trying to let people know they were there, and give the crowd a show. Last time I checked, this isn't exactly a 'gentleman's race.' You're just nitpicking against the americans - give it a rest. The others are just more experienced... remember this was a points match. The Americans were only there to give the crowd something to relate to, and let the japanese know where they're at now. They still have FD to worry about

But I am really happy that Kazama did well. :2f2f: Was Was Takatori there in the Cefiro? I might not be spelling his name right so nobody might not know whom im talking about. LOL.. Anywho, wish i was there. :bash:

I agree, I've seen all types of drivers throw down their gloves, from all countries. I've also seen every driver handshake another driver. But with Sam, it was just different, I don't know, I just get a bad feeling about how he acts. It's not really what he does, but how he does it. He drove amazingly though.

Altho everyone feels sam had a bad attitude about the decision. at the end of the nite. kuma and tanaka were all joking with sam. it was in the heat of competition. would you really try to stay compsed when you are competing, or would you show emotion of how hard you are trying........ Get over it. Practice on friday was awesome, in the rain as well....priceless memories.
