Anyone got pics of this setup? I have a daily driven car that I'd like to put this setup on, but don't want the bead blowing off on the first pothole I hit.

not trying to flame or anything....but why would you want a 205/40 on a 9in rim?

this whole stretching thing is getting out of hand, sorry no pics but just imagine they would look stretched.

that is pretty pointless... why put that small of a contact patch on a nice 9" wide wheel?? at the very least go 215... 225 is even better IMHO. stretching is getting outta hand...

rbs14 on here runs those daily, but if you don't want to bust the bead on a pothole. don't be an idiot and stretch a trie that extreme then.

please no.
almost a full inch undersized
and bead blowing depends more on your wheels lip design
but yeah, dont do it imo.
*edit* holy crap aaron u are up late too?

That seems a little small I went with a 215/45 but you could probably do 215/40

The more you stretch the better you drift. DUH!
Just look, this guy drift's so good, he's on three wheels YO!

:cj: :cj:
Mild stretch to improve contact patch, or decrease sidewall flex is one thing. Excessive stretch is excessively stupid.

I have a friend that did that on his S14
He didn't have any other tires so he got some bullshit off of a friends civic.
To say the least it was pretty funny.

No way bro. I fit a 205/45/17 just for the hell of it a couple months back. You lose tread patch when you strecht it that much.. Its not worth it...
I would do 215/45/17 in the front and 225/45/17 in the rear...This is the tire size I run now on the impuls... You gonna be at SFS5 sat?

rbs14 doesnt run them daily anymore, scotts got a daily s14 now.
i ran them daily before i blew my motor.
205 40 17 on 17x9. super stretched but it felt good. but with stock ka no rear sway bar and 225 45 17 in the back really gotta go for it otherwise mad understeer. with alot of camber too youll go threw tires way to fast too.

I thought RBS14 ran 215/40/17s?

That is an insane stretch, if you do it and it works....please post a pic for me..I have 225's on 8's and that is as small as I will go:wiggle:

if you wanna stretch run 215's in a 40 or 45 series...BH, Scooter, myself, dousan, others have run 205s but for daily driving there is really no reason...even on the track i prefer 215s...
what's the purpose of your car and the desire to run such a stretched tire?

Yeah I ran it for a while on the front. Good because it lets you go retarded low. Didn't understeer as many internet drifters told me it would. Good turn in response. However, I like 215's more. I'll end up with some 215/40's when I can afford new tires. For now I'm rocking 215/45 fronts and 225/45 rears.

I was thinking about doing this once I got my 9s, with S-03s, but now after reading this, I'll definately reconsider.

well, reason I wanted to do it is because I had some extra tires laying around.
Apparently no one has pics of this. My friend did 215-40 on 9" and really wasn't too bad. I guess I'll end up with 225-45 like normally planned.
Marcos-
Yea I'll be at SFS5 this weekend. Hopefully I get some tires so I don't have to drift on stockers.

Here's 225 on a 10.5" rim. Not exactly what you asked for but you get the idea. imo. it looks stupid and is unsafe to drive on.
fyi. Pics are from 240sx forums. Some guys having a laugh at the tire shop.

Ya damn driftas and ya stretched tires! Get those tires away from me before they magically explode and kill everyone in a 5 mile radius.
Not safe to drive on?
I put money on that 95% of the people that break the bead on stretched tires were just too stupid to check their tire pressure since you can't tell when a stretched tire is low.
The only person I've ever heard of stretched tires breaking beads besides some "ZOMG some dude on some dumpster noob forum broke a bead on his 235/40 on a 9 setup" Is a guy on VIPForums running 7degrees of camber and 215s on an 11.
Stretched tires won't kill you... despite what the highschool drop out at the local Rent a Tire tells you.
thats my work meister and its a 225 on a 10.5, a similar stretch would be a 205 on a 9, we were jsut bullshitting around....my roomate did a 215 o na 9 no problem, so i imagine a 205 coulndt be too much harder

225 on a 10.5 is mathmatically more strechted then 205 on nine.

i saw a pic of 205 on a 9 x 17 once. it looked really stupid. lol

right on. i guessi didnt take the time to do it mathematically

Another thing to consider when doing crazy stretching is how its gonna tear up your wheels if you have to paralell park. Less tire sticking out means less safety zone when tires rub against the curb. THis may not be such a problem where you live but in SF we have to get 1" or less close to the curb or a bus might take off your side mirror. In my experience a 225 on an 8.5" tire still resulted in nasty curbage. Expensive wheels necessitate protection!!

Who wants to post a pic of a 215/40 on an 8.5. That's not too stretched is it?
Hehe we should setup a thing so if you put it makes a little quote window-ish box...

dont do it...the tire will roll right off the wheel

205-40-16's are common on a 16x9 on a lot of european cars, i had it on my old car about 5 years ago no problem, but definately not for a 17x9. More diameter, same width ratio of a 16x9= way less contact, very high amount of load
