The title pretty much says it all. It just all of a sudden started doing it and i have already reset my ecu to see if that fixed it but it didn't...any suggestions??

If it is in neutral then it will rev to 5000 then deccelorate to 3000 then rev back to 5000 and repeat process. If in gear it will got to 5000 then deccellorate to 4500 thn back to 5000 and repeat process! Someone please help me...I wanted to go to the track today and figure out my 1/4 mile time before i start modifying it! Can't very well do that when i can't get to maximum power!

that's your rev limiter... only solution, jwt ecu upgrade.
i live in toronto and there's a local import shop that said it would reprogram my ecu for $400 cdn which is an excellent price compared to the jwt upgrade which is $575 usd

My rev limiter only kicks in if its in Fifth gear, or in fifth with the clutch in. In neutral 1st,2nd,3rd, or 4th gear It will go all the way up to 7k rpm. If it's doing that in Neutral then isn't something wrong with it?

rev limiter kicks in at 6.7k more or less.
when it starts to kick down at 5k then u have a problem
I once had this problem
Solution: I changed out the cat. There is a substance in there that gets overheated and then clogs up the exhaust pipes.
hell, why dont u just eliminate the cat and resonator and do 2.5" to the muffler. That way, u'll eliminate ur problem and gain considerable HP. Just a thought, also, u can try changing out the distributor and cap, and wires and plugs and all that(tune-up) just to see if it is an electrical prob. Probably not though, I see exhaust as the problem.
Hope that helps, Peace

after looking at that once again, I can give u my 99.999999% guarantee that its exhaust related, I had THE EXACT same problem

The subject of taking out the cat has been on the board many times and it seems that most people on the board agree that you don't gain any noticable horsepower. You just get louder and have to change it back come emissions time.

well, if ur gonna go that route, I hope it would help u out.
Why dont u just go to the local auto store(strauss, auto zone, pep boys, whatever) and talk with one of the workers there and/or read what the different botles say on the back....it usually tells u what the product will do. Good luck, but I have a feeling it wouldn't help.

i went the route of putting 2 1/4 full thru without cat to a tanabe muffler. it sounds like shit, i cant figure out if its because theres no back pressure or the muffler but im gonna put a small glass pack in it maybe that will help. i dont suggest running straight pipe without a cat it doesnt really effect the performance.

tell u the truth. I think it does help out performance, although quite minimal. And I ran 2 1/2 to a custom dual tip muffler with I believe he said only 2 1/2 inch tips. Maybe ur tips are too big, maybe something else I have no idea but everyone that hears my car loves the exhaust, nice roar, not the ricey sounding type shit that civics give out but a beautiful roar. And even though the gain is minimal, its better than zero gain. Also, its much cheaper cause he doesnt have to buy a cat. And many people have said this and I also tend to believe that there is no need for backpressure, the optimal for the car is just freeflowing, not all this backpressure and whatnot. hell, if ur choking, and are trying to spit some chicken bones out ur mouth, would u want someone to stuff some more chicken bones down ur throat at the same time?

That 5k limiter could be on of two things. 1 Ive heard of people having that and after a tune up , and cap and rotor.its gone. 2 You 5th gear sensor on your tranmission could be messed up and always sending 5 th signals to your ECU.
