How low can you go v. 2.1 - S/Z-chassis only

My shitty 180sx.
Lowered on mystery coilovers. Got about 2" more (easily) in the front, probably 4" more in the rear. I need to lower the rear down because it looks like a retarded dragster.

Since I keep getting PMs about the wheels - I'm pretty sure the manufacturer is AME, model is Circlar III.
They're 17x8 +32 and 17x9 +38, but I have a 25mm bolton spacer in front and 10mm of sandwich in rear, so it's effectively 17x8 +7 and 17x9 +28. Having the 20mm overfenders in front kinda blows for these wheels, but oh well.

I've got some higher tires since that pic was taken. Went from 225/35/18 to 225/40/18, wow ha ha.

It's lowered on some Apex springs, about 4cm i reckon.

Might be buying one of those cheap Megan sets in the future.

S13's can only go so low before losing usable suspension travel. There's a good reason right there. It's only useful comparing apples to apples.

Its from aspec. It plugs right into the stock base model holder. With that one though, you need a longer stud, the one they provide doesnt reach all the way.

Hahaha j/k. What offset? And I want to get the 10s from you so i have somewhat-matching spares for the rear! Although... i'd have to run a 18x10 -18 to match the 18x10.5 -10s. So yea... got any x10 -18s? Sell em!


Oh and i dunno how KTSs are, but on my JIC FLT-A2s, unloaded, i have a 2 finger gap between the top of the spring and the upper mount (~1.5 inches). And in front, all the collars are stacked on each other (need to remove 1, but for now, this actually works pretty well.

So is this how everybody gets their KTS's that low? I was under the impression that that wasn't really safe in the rear. I'm happy with my current ride height although it could go lower. But one side of the car is still higher than the other. I think something is bent b/c when I put the coils in both sides were set the same.
Anyway, I'll post some pic as soon as I can get some new ones. My frame rails are 2.5" off the ground :)

So is this how everybody gets their KTS's that low? I was under the impression that that wasn't really safe in the rear. I'm happy with my current ride height although it could go lower. But one side of the car is still higher than the other. I think something is bent b/c when I put the coils in both sides were set the same.
Anyway, I'll post some pic as soon as I can get some new ones. My frame rails are 2.5" off the ground :)

I have 2 collars removed on mine in the front. The rear I have slop but not enough to where it leaves the little guides on the collar.

I'm just gonna couple some more thoughts on them with the shock dyno which should be getting done this weekend if all goes well. I wrote an initial review comparing to silk roads maybe i didn't post it on here...

The fenders will notch themselves, I only plan on a few more mm, some more camber, and some spacers.

go 235/40 if you value your tiresize. Its a few mm difference, i forget what it equated to.

Actually I got all my stuff from SPL Parts. Josh had a great Group Buy though. I just installed the Tension rods, lower brace, and brake cooling deflectors yesterday. The front end feels very solid now. I love it!:rawk: :rawk: :rawk:

I know what you mean I bent my battle version toe rods bottoming out on the subframe, one side hit so hard it split on the bottom. When Alex sent me replacement center sections they came wrapped in a huge DumDums wrapper haha.

I can go lower in the front but I'm already scraping the lip and my exhaust. The back is as low as I can go without taking out all the preload. And for whatever reason the right side is still higher than the left.

For the rear on an s13 it will need more than a roll, or a lot of camber. For the front you will need 3.5 degrees of camber or more, and some really small tires like 215/40/17s

Well it snowed today... The weather here fucking sucks, no events yet, car is not really running. Put on turbo, had to modify piping, ecu is in or on its way to Florida fail, lots of hard parking..

Once the weather gets better and we get some events going I'll have action shots, videos bla bla bla.

For the strut clearance on Stances they clear just fine (less than a finger), on my Silk Roads I had to move the top spindle mount bolt one position over (3rd highest camber setting).

fair enough, from what I've seen KTS lower bracket size is about average. I just need to order some +20 Fenders.

I would like to tuck a bit mre tread up front, but i have 225/40/18 AD07s on 9.5s. Rear is 245/40/18 on 10.5.


This is why i want 17s for the front... I can lower the rear until the lip hits the fender, but I can't lower the front to match b/c on 18s it just wouldn't turn. Damn.

Not low enough. Trying to sell these and go 17/18 stagger. 18s up front are just too tall. Anyone else rubbing the underside of the strut tower? I'm not rubbing any inner fender metal anymore, beat all that outta the way, but I'm rubbing right over top of the front tires in hard corners on the front edge of the underside of the strut tower (if that makes any sense at all)...

i have the megan street coils, what are the lines on the camber plates incremented in? i have them full in, at least 2 lines past where the lines stopped (aka no longer marked). looking at my tire, it still seems to have pretty much full contact to the outer shoulder of the tire, and the angle looks no more than 2 degrees or so, i just wondered.

stupid weld wheels! they dont have any sort of thick mounting hub on the inside of them like alot of wheels do, so i had to become a spacer whore to get the spokes to clear the Z calipers, and went full in on the camber adjustment to keep the mexican skateboard wheel look from happening... guess its either time for front overfenders or bust out the roller tool... :hyper:

Actually I'm running 10mm spacers all around, making the wheels 18x8.5+25 and 18x9.5+25. The rear is perfect fitment wise on stock rolled fenders. They couldn't be any more perfect. The fronts on the other hand are sunk, but more spacer won't fix my problem since it's not rubbing on either the front or the back, but right above the tire, on the edge of the strut tower, I'll have to see if I can get a pic sometime. I really want a 17x9+15 or +20 up front, with a 235/40 on it.
