:fawk2:alright my car is deciding to give me problems one right after another....

alright i recently replaced my turbo because it had too much shaft play and then i noticed a clicking sound...kinda sounding like lawn mower a clicking sound.... but the sound only come when i throttle...during idle there is no sound or when i left off the gas.... i cant seem to pin point where its coming from either? :fawk2:

second problem today.... i started up my car and started to hear a WHOooooo sound when i would throttle also....it comes and goes useally from 2000-4000 rpm.... i poped my hood to see what would be causing it which leads me to another problem... i saw some like fresh resudue around the water pump assembly...would this cause the WHOooo sound? lol

lol does anyone know what im talking about =)
-thanks any help would be appreciated btw: i got a s13 blacktop

that whoooo sound could maybe the water pump going. Is there alot of coolant around the pump? To bad you having problems, didn't you just get this engine?

Why can't you pin point the noise? Can you give a general direction? Depending on where the ever-so descriptive "whooo" noise is coming from, it could be a few different things.

Try harder and come back.

yeah =*( i did....theres not alot of coolant around the pump like a noticable ring...
all these problems kinda started to pop out when one of my friends told me to run a open waste gate to get to 14psi =( stupidest thing i have ever done...

well the lawn mower/ clicking sound sounds like its coming from within the block...

the whoo sound sounds like the front of the motor...sounds like its coming from the water pump

ok i listened more carefully....sounds like the lawn mower sound is coming from the back of the motor....around the exhaust manifold...

Open wastegate + a ton of problems?

DO a compression test.
Congratulations.
You may just have blown your motor.

#4 cylinder is almost ALWAYS the first to go and that sound you describe makes me think of knock.

OR if you're super lucky...
The lawnmower sound is just a bad exhaust leak, and you blew out a turbo gasket.

I'm having the exact same problem but I'm running a AEM tubular manifold, Just upgraded t28 s15 turbo and upgraded up pipe. I also started to hear this noise when I was boosting 14lbs by accident when it crept up.

the noise does sound like a lawnmower under load between 1000 - 2500 rpm and worse under load. The noise doesn't sound as bad when the car has been running for a while. Kinda sounds like a leak but I won't rule out the fact that I've damaged my motor.

thanks

do you have e-fans, or the clutch fan? clutch fans make whooooo sounds with the engine is revved. and if you have that residue, your water pump may be going too.
lawnmower sounds usually do mean exhaust leaks. I have many, and it ain't pretty. it might just be a gasket

nah i didnt blow my motor...the compression was still good... umm...the whooo sound... was solved by getting a new water pump....and i did mess up my cheap t25 turbo...but got another one.... the lawn mower sound comes and goes... i have a strong feeling its a exhaust leak somewhere...

You can have perfect compression but still have spun rod bearings, that usually has a knocking type sounds and should increase with RPM.
