When i turn the key i can hear one distinct click comming from the engine, if I turn the key enough random times the starter eventually turns and the car starts with no problem. I bought a new battery about a year ago so i figured I just needed a new stater. So I slap a new starter in there, but I keep having the same damn problem:confused: , except now when the new starter begins to turn the car starts real quick. Im a bit of a newb so any detailed advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have an auto? Its the safety switch that orevents you from starting in D. Check the engine fuse box.

yeah, its an auto :ghey:. While very dusty all the fuses seem to be intact. would you recommend replacing them anyways?

The safety switch may have a relay.

when i used to have my auto it did that somtimes, i used to just keep turning and clicking and eventually it would crank, try playing with the shifter between P and N, always seemed to start in neutral, then fixed that problem by 5spd swap.

It's not a regular blade fuse, its the kind that has a sqaure clear top. Should be green and 15amps.

From what it sounds like, it may be that little switch that lets ur ECU know ur car is in park?
I think its called like, Neutral Safety Switch.

It would appear that the Neutral Safety Switch is to blame. Is this a simple problem to fix, or should I take it to a shop somewhere? I havent messes around with any of the wires in my car, so if someone would be kind enough to give me a 'How To' I would really appreciate it.:mepoke:

i have a question i just put a new starter in on my 240hatch an it was workin like a champ of a couple of months. the motor has alot of miles on it but it has been working really well an has not really givin me any problems till now. My car wont start. I'm gettin power to everything all my gauges are workin an lights but when i turn the key al i hear is this rapid "clicking" noise an nothing. The clicking noise will be fast at first but then dies down. Anyone got any ideas what the prob can be.

sounds like the battery. Use the FSM to help you troubleshoot.:mepoke:
