The rubber trim around my windshield and rear window are in poor poor shape... cracked or pealing in many places from the Florida sun abusing it for so many years.

I want to replace these with new peices however I'm not sure of the best place to allocate these bits or furthermore how to replace them... My understanding is the front glass is glued into the chassis and I assume the rear is done the same way... how would I go about replacing these nasty little peices without breaking, shattering or otherwise damaging the glass?

If the retainer is still good then the moulding pulls right out with little effort, new moulding will then snap right back in place. Just make sure you don't tear the retainer in the process and clean it out thoroughly before reinstalling the moulding.

Does this apply to both the front and rear?

I'm gonna check some of the wholesale Nissan dealers online for pricing on the two seals.

What if the retainer is damaged?

if you have a hatch, and if i think i know what your talking about, just do the best you can do with taking off all the plastic, which leaves the bare metal. then spraypaint it with 2 or 3 coats of black. i did that to my rear hatch and it's been almost a year already with no wear or fade.

Nope, S14. I'm talking about the rubber weatherstripping that is around the windshield and rear glass. The rubber around the doors and QTR. windows are surprisingly alright.

It's not rubber. Front is two pieces, rear is one. If the retainer is damaged you'll need to replace it as well which requires pulling the glass.

There is no metal in the windshield moulding besides a small center cover.

How much would it usually cost for an auto glass shop to replace the seals... labor and all? [front and back]

It depends on the type used, but just a universal single layer strip around both shouldn't be more than $100. Some places throw it in when you have glass replaced, others charge extra. The OE moulding has a divot made into it, making it look like a double hump, so it flows better at least in the rear with the lower trim against the decklid. I prefer OE because it's a better fit but it does cost more in the front and requires the glass to be pulled if the retainer is damaged.

by retainer, do you mean the this? S14 Windshield fastner moulding (http://www.z1motorsports.com/240sx/product_info.php?cPath=652_716_854&products_id=3900)

my rear molding was a piece of cake to install, but the front seems to be all clogged up and seems impossible to install the molding
