OK, so I have a car that I'm actually gonna register and insure.

In which order do I have to obtain insurance, registration, and smog certificate? Can I register it before I get insurance and a smog certificate? Or do I have to do both first. By the way, the registration expired before I acquired this car (Expired in 2004... yeah, I know). It also hasn't been smogged in 2 years.

Also, what insurance company has a really cheap liability only plan that I can pay monthly

Thanks.

1. Get insurance
2. Get a temporary registration card from the dmv/pay fees
3. Pass smog
4. Complete the registration at the DMV and wait for your real card and sticker in the mail.

Start getting quotes. Prices are dependant on too many variables. I found Farmers and Esurance to be the cheapest for me. I ultimately went with Esurance.

I just went through this.

1. Smog
2. Registration
3. Insurance (who's going to insure a car that's not registered in your name?)

Easy.

WAWANESA insurance is cheapest you can get. They're based in San Diego too. They will actually get your car fixed if you get in an accident too. Im now paying 1/2 of what I had with geico. Whats even better is when I added my Lexus to the premium my insurance went lower than with just the 240. Im now paying $700 a year for full coverage on the lexus and liability on my sisters integra. For my sisters integra alone they said it would be $350 a year with liability. They can break payments down monthly over 8 months and I think its only about $60 more.

Easy.

You have to insure a car before you can get it registered (or drive it), and you have to have to smog it before you get it registered as well.

1. Insurance
2. Smog
3. Register

Ok, well I don't qualify for WAWANESA because I haven't been licensed for 18 months. I'm going to check out esurance.

I got quoted 771 for liability only with esurance:

Liability Coverages

Bodily Injury Limits
$15,000/$30,000 $452.00

Property Damage Limit
$5,000 $319.00

Medical Payments Limit
I decline None

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury Limits
I decline None

Liability Coverage Total $771.00

I heard about collector's car insurance being really cheap. Can anyone tell me about that?

BTW, this is a 1983 RX7

progressive cheapest one i found...... so far.. but eh... technically ur car shouldnt be on the road if its not insured.... so get insurance... then dmv.. then smog.. then back to dmv... atleast when u go to the dmv 2nd u can get a temp operating permit...

Geico just quoted me at 396 for 6 months, liability only. I don't think I can find anyone else cheaper.
