fumes from rear brakes making me sick

i just swapped my rear brake pads about a week ago, and i just started to smell this nasty burning plastic smell from my rear tires.. is it because of the new pads? is it suppose to be doing this?

no it is not because of the new pads, unless you wiped your ass with them before the install. what might have happened is you broke a brake line and it's leaking on the rotor, then getting burned off from the heat. although i have no idea if this is possible or what it would smell like, it's just a thought.

Just started yesterday, has me a bit worried. It does seem to be coming from the well...

are you sur u guys have the caliper and pad seated correctly? if not your pad is constatly applying pressur tot eh rotor causing a smell similar to this. make sure the clipers slots are horizontal with the car then place the pads in the caliper bracket. im pretty sure this is what happened. keep us updated if this resolves it or not <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

so i just have to raise the rear and spin the wheel to check for resistance right? if it spins smoothly then it shouldnt be that problem .. i did however take out the piston while i was changing the pad ( i didnt know what i was doing ) .. so theres brake fliud everywhere.. i had to bleed my brake lines and etc etc.. there was fliud on the rotors.. but this is about 5-6 days ago . it should be all gone by now if that is what is cuasing this smell..

u took out the caliper piston?!

well if its ur pads riding against the rotors just take them off and look at them u should be able to see some glazing on ur rotors also.

if this is the case sand down ur pads and ur rotors to remove the glaze.

also did u break ur pads in instead of doing 60-0 stops in 10 ft?
