Got a dog yesterday..

So yesterday I got a dog, & I really havn't been paying much attention to types of dogs, so I have no clue what kind it is, or how old it may be. It's one of those dogs you see on the street, and you just decide to feed it, and it stays (I forgot the word at the moment). So, I was wondering if you dog people out there may have an idea about the kind of dog, as well as how old it may be? My assumption is around 4-5 months..

I don't know what kind of dog it is, but I would strongly suggest you taking her and getting her dewormed and some shots if you plan on keeping her... Perhaps a vet will be better able to discern what breed she is as well.

Thats wut im saying...German Shepard mixed with something for sure. Something big n fat...reminds me kinda like a CHOW. Chows are built like that, round, fluffy and will eat yo ass in a second!!! No not eat your ass like that!!! Eat you like inflict pain...

Thanks for the comments, & yes, I did plan on getting it dewormed, shots, etc.. it's just the fact that I got her yesterday, so I havn't had a chance to take her anywhere yet.

Oh yeah, for the last picture, luckily for me, she picked my neighbors yard to do her work at.. :keke:

is there any black on its tongue? If there is it DEF has chow, if not...still a possibility.

+1 chow/shepard. Shepards are at risk for bad joints. And chows are agressive to strangers.
But.. along with the other two, I know for sure that's mostly chow/shepard.

I have had dogs all my life, only 2 have been males... Any dog that age will squat to pee if female, raise his leg if male.

She's very cute. I also think chow/sheppard which is a good mix. Sheppards are smart and loyal and chows are cute and fluffy (but dumb). I have one that's a little on the dumb side, but I love her. Its nice of you to take care of her, but you need to try to find the owner. Just call a few of your local vets / animal shelter with the description. If the owner is looking they'll get the word out and leave contact info. I recently did this with a dog I found. The owner was very grateful and gave me a fat reward.

If its part chow, JUST KILL IT. I hate chows. they are mean, and unpredictable.

If you don't decide to kill it, raise it around MANY different people, play with its food while its eating(that way it won't bite a kids face off when the kid touches its food while eating). Chows can be SUPER possesive, so like i say, introduce it to TONS of people to properly socialize it.

I'll THINK about the animal shelter thing.. I really like the dog, & I did not see any signs of identification or ownership of the her as well. On another note, checked the tongue, there is no black on it.

Anyway, its a nice looking dog, I'd keep it if possible.

And his advice is good advice.. my friend has a chow, and the thing is super fucking mean.

However, your dog is only half stupid (the other half is super smart), so if you raise it right it'll be fine.

haha. I was ALMOST serious about the "kill the chow" part.

I worked at a vet for four years(2 of them as a vet tech) and chows are one of my most hated dogs! If i could kill every pure chow with the snap of my fingers........well, it would have been done a LONG time ago! haha.

anyways...it does look like the dog is part sheppard, which is a very intelligent breed as stated above. They can also be nippy and aggressive if brought up wrong....You can deff. get the chow part outa the dog by HEAVY socialization as stated above...

That can be a great dog, or a horrible dog....its all up to you!!!!

Yeah some great advice ^^^^. I have an american eskimo and those can be nippy and mean. I made sure that I socialized her good. I have seen other american eskimos.....and Im glad I did. (my dogs name is CUSCO)

male puppies squat like that too when they piss. it's not until they reach several months before they lift their legs.

i have a female australian shepard and she lifts her leg and marks trees etc.

she's the alfa-dog in the family.
