s13 spedometer stopped working today, only turns on if...

I was driving in the rain today and my car slid out from behind and did a 180 and i couldnt recover, new to drifting. So i put it in reverse, back up, then drive off and go about my business. I realized that as soon as that happened, my spedometer won't work anymore while driving. I pulled over, turned off the car, then turned it back on and still nothing. I was driving some more and i turned my lights off then back on to see if that would do it, it only works when i go from lights (position lights) to nothing (no lights at all.) The spedometer briefly stays on for about 1minute at the most then drops back to 0mph. My driver side harness is somewhat peeled from the wheel hitting it, but only 2 wires are exposed. Anyone wanna help me?

yep, my speedo works about 30% of the time, btw, on the road is a bad place to learn to drift. open parking lots are better.

I did some searching but most seem to be caused with HUD speedometers going old, or something having to do with the a faulty faulty cluster, or even the speed sensor going bad. However im sure it cant be a HUD since i dont have one, nor is it a bad speed senor cause it works if i turn off the lights then back on, only for a short time. Is there any fuses that control these or something?

i wasn't drifting on the road man, i was going 10mph from a red light, i was headed to my school's parking not to drift. i just meant that the reason why i couldnt recover the 180 spin is cause im new to it. I by no means try drifting on public roads, i dont want to die

i was also wondering if it might be a loose ground???? cause my other 240 did the same thing... I know my speed sensor is good cause I checked it when I did my trans fluid change....

I just don't want to pull my cluster but I might have to just to see if something is loose...

If your harness rubbed under the fender well, I'd suggest you fix that ASAP. That harness can be the beginning of a very big headache if you dont fix/relocate it, specially after you already rubbed it of.

Yeah fix your rubbed wires, and tuck that harness, and check your grounds while your at it. I rubbed through my harness when I first got my coil overs, I was having some weird problems till I finally rubbed through enough wires and blew some fuses and learned the hardway.
