I killed Bambi just out side of Kerrville,Tx

No seriously, never killed a deer until now, 6am only going about the posted limit and fucker ran out in front of me, thankfully I was in the chevy Tahoe. The female deer I hit at 65mph must have weighed about 150lbs+. had I hit it dead center the air bags would have gone off, since I hit it off center the head whipped around and took out the fender. had I been going 80mph like I was earlier, I would have really took on some serious damage and possibly had the air bag's go off...............

still though west bound 10 from Kerrville to El paso, I saw way to many rigs off to the right stopped and inspecting damage to their rigs and way to many times lots of skid marks & semi's jacked knifed skids of people swerving to avoid a deer.

word to the wise don't swerve, hit em dead center.

now I see why in TX people in those parts have those moose / bull bars on the front of their pick up trucks.

Pictures or it didn't happen, lol.
Just kidding. Glad you're ok. And yes, need to hit them dead center.
But 150lbs.!!!! That's a big animal.
The things we have to lookout for over where I live are 30 lbs coyotes lol!

not with a air bag equipped vehicle, I thought the damage was minor but it basically ripped the pass side bumper up, when I stopped in Ft. Stockton looking at the damage, also broke the headlight support ,people at the gas station asked me what I hit and, conversation started why people in those parts have bull bars, most of the people I talked with in that part of texas said they have hit about 5 or more deer per year.

I dont even want to know what happens when hitting livestock like a bull or a cow.

still though to legally cruze at 80mph in the day time is awesome !, but night time between San Antonio and Houston Texas DPS take's their speed limit's seriously............

ah my favorite rest stop, can't get any more red neck then this place.

Ive seen people swerve too many times and end up hitting something harder than a deer. Brake, dont swerve.

Theres a video floating around of a motorcycle hitting a deer doing 100+. Cuts the deer in half and rides it out.

for anyone else road tripp'n

full tank from so.cal get across the boarder into Eisenberg, arizona and get fuel there its $0.65 per gallon cheaper then Bythe,ca

the truck stops like
Flying J
Love's
T&A travel stop

from Qartzite to Elpaso there are cheap spots to get gas along the way as mentioned but make sure you top off as much as possible in Van Horn, Tex this will give you just enough to get too Kerrville, Tx. if you stop off in Junction, Tx prices are expensive.

after that there are tons of truck stops get get fuel along interstate 10 and just look for the gas stations not next to the freeway as they are going to be 30 cents a gallon or more cheaper.

stations like
petro
phlips 66
and most other name brands in the middle of no where will amost pay the same price of gas as in so.cal.
