I hit full boost at about 4600rpm

for that I do with the car it was a bit laggy. in close tandem i found myself falling out of boost alot. 420whp was at 20psi

so now im hoping for about 450whp with the new setup. and only run about 16psi

This has been the overwhelming issue with that .86 housing...it just reacts that 'little bit' slower that it really plays out huge in the real world aspectof things.

Either way you've got a very good setup. As I've been preaching forever, it's amazing at the power these things are capable of, yet so many fail at achieving when running half assed or super cheap setups.

Good cams, nice tune, solid setup will always work.
.86 housing? = upper midrange/top end
Intakake Manifold = upper midrange/top end
HKS 264's? = upper midrange/top end

Amazing at how so many people don't build their setup with all of their mods in mind, and end up screwing it up.

I assume going to race gas and adding more timing...

I know on street I see 20 psi in the 3650/3900 range. I wish the dyno I used was friendlier to turbo cars, but it is what it is.

I am, but much like Pantaloons, only for the detonation resistance, not for the power.

Peak power is ultimatly the same and response is worse. In the grand scheme of things I look at it this way

Garrett Turbo Land
300 hp = t28
400 hp bottom mount= gt2871
400 hp top mount = t3/t4 (.63 hotside, 50 trim compressor works well)
500 hp = gt35r

To me, a 3071/76 may get you to 450-475 whp, but so will a 35r...and they both respond the same..laggy. If you can deal with lag, you may as well deal with it and go 35r and make real power haha.

Good stuff. Not that it makes any difference but you're my new best Zilvia friend haha. So many people skip and wonder why it doesn't make the right power...

@Pantallons:
wow, nice numbers! i'm running the gt2871r .86a/r with Power FC and 740cc as well. but i have a fully built bottom end and head... i would love to hit that hp! here's hoping when i dyno that i make what you made!

just curious though i've only run up to 18psi but i seemed to hit full boost before 4000rpm. i have s14 motor with 264/264 cams with vtc didn't know if you had s13 motor.

i have a s13 sr20. my motor only made 385whp before i did some head work. it helps alot.

plus i really have no idea when i hit full boost. i was just going by the dyno graph...

Is there anyone who thinks that there's something wrong with my setup and results as posted?
What???? What other mods do you have?

Im on 7psi with a T25 making 234/240. Realistically 225whp 230wtq, had a spike in power for no reason that sent the graph to 234. I could make your same numbers on 1 Bar, just a shittier power band :P

Stock top end
Wiseco .040 over pistons
Eagle rods
APex HG-for the life of me cant remember the thickness but it bumped my compression a bit
GReddy RSPL FMIC
3" turbo back exhaust, hi flow cat, no resonator
PFC D-Jetro

Got a boat load of parts waiting to be put in right now. AVCR, ISIS intake manifold, 550cc Inj, 256/256 cams, springs retainers, stuff of the sort. Just missing a 2871 .64.

I gotta break 300whp on this T25 lol

@U Contempt: keep in mind the S13 engine is highport while S14 is lowport... getting the head "done" may have more effect on the s13 as on the s14 engine??

Gonna keep the intake stoc to see the vct effect on my setup. If not ok, then get a freddy or so.

Engines are basically air pumps. more air an engine can move (and adequately provide fuel for) the more power it makes. That turbo cannot flow enough air to hit that power goal. the only way possible would be to build the car for a huge shot of nitrous (which is like liquid air).

So anywho, It will be interesting to see the differences in powerband with the 70mm TB and the better sparkoutput...I still think one of the weak links is are the low spark energy...we'll see!

yeah, i understand the differences in their porting. i was just curious if to maybe the reason to my faster spool was the vtc. because with my 52trim gt2871r .86a/r that i have i start getting positive boost pressure at around 2000rpm and it's full boost around mid 3000rpm's. i'm sure it's more than just that though. i have higher compression pistons over stock... but not by much though. and a slight over bore on the motor, which i am sure helps! ha

personally, i love this turbo and my setup. putting coilovers, new bushing suspension pieces and Z brakes on it here in the spring. and then i'm hopefully going to do dyno your power numbers!

Trust me I'm not actually going to try for that much on a T25. I don't want a power band that shoots straight up then straight down after it peaks lol.

I just discovered two broken studs on my turbo anyways so a 2871 is happening now.
