Wow...super lightweight seat (9.5lbs), but I'd DEFINATELY have to sit and try out one of those seats first. Extra padding or not, it just plain LOOKS uncomfortable. Pretty cheap too...but I'm thinking the custom brackets and rails might be a pain to fabricate.

i have a 31 waist, and a bride zeta III, and I love my seat. fits pretty snug for daily driving.
my friend is 6'4 with a 33 waist and altho he needs lower rails (i just have the regular rails) when he adjusts the seat he fits in it very very well. its great for track application, you wont go anywhere when you car goes sideways. |

I'm pretty sure they don't sell the seats anymore. I checked with them a while ago and they said they weren't going to because they didn't sell enough so it didn't make sense to bring them in and try. Sucks because I really wanted one.

I actually just emailed Kuah about this. I've had an SPL seat for a few years and it's pretty nice. I don't like my Memoryfab passenger seat, plus it doesn't match, so I'm trying to find another SPL bucket.

Since SPL is not going to carry them, who did SPL source from?

I am really liking the way the Status Ring seats look in leather.
My main draw to the Status seats is their hip bolster design. It slopes a bit down around that area, compared to going up. I think that would make it a lot easier to get in and out of the car, plus it looks better that way imo. -Don |

And it also looks like the LF still leaves the seat centered to the steering wheel with the Vios III seat.

I have an UltraShield Sport Rally, which is along the lines if the Kirkey. You can get custom width and layback, and they used to have a really cheap price going for them ($160) but now they seem to be $250 and up for the same seat.
I mounted mine with Bride MO rails (bottom mount) I think? Since I got a wider custom seat, I couldn't use side mount rails, which in the end made the seat high enough that with a helmet on, I hit the roll cage sometimes. The padding is less than a Kirkey, so I wouldn't really recommend them, especially with the price increase. |

I say go with the Recaro Pole Position. I love mine. I have never felt uncomfortable using it in traffic, 3 hour drives to willow springs, and in 8 hour track days. The only thing I dislike about it is that it sits higher than other seats because it's a bit wide for my nagisa rails (I havent seen them mounted on bride rails personally yet). Plus they haven't faded like a couple of my friend's sparco seats and I leave my car out in a sunny driveway for the past 1 1/2 years.

How do you think Status's seats compare to Recaro? I started asking aorund about it, and a lot of people have been saying that its quality is a bit lacking, others have not even heard of them at all.

If your going to SCCA your car or any other similar racing you have to make sure that the seats are legal. The Sparco fighters are not but the pro 2000's are(verified that with a rep from sparco). Personally I think the sparco pro 2000's are a good choice and won't break the bank like brides or status will. Pro 2000's are what I'll be buying. |

FIA certification isn't really needed for very much in the US. You definitely don't need FIA seats to do HPDEs, autocrosses, or, I imagine, most amateur drift stuff (not well versed on drifting regs).
Kuah replied to me and said they've got too much other stuff going on and the SPL seats will not be back. What's the deal with the Pole Position? Is it a wider seat made for bigger people, or is the frame just wider at the back for some reason? |

No SCCA stuff for me. This car is just going to see the street and drag strip. And I don't think the NHRA has any specific seat requirements until you start going retarded fast?

The Status Ring seat craddles your body more than a Recaro SPG style. Its like a cup that you sit in making it comfortable. Its fairly easy to get out of but im not that big of a guy. I think I have a pic of me sitting in the seat, just have to find it. Scott |
