those are just like kirkey seats, which i was just about to mention, they look like shit, but are SUPER light (11 lbs each) and their good drag racing seats, which is what spanishricer does anywa, so i'd look into those as well spanish. I've sat in them as well, and although ugly as a mug, they are quite comfortable... not much padding though their meant more for track only, but you can add padding, and i like that you can pick any material and color to finish them out in. Pretty cheap too!

Wow...super lightweight seat (9.5lbs), but I'd DEFINATELY have to sit and try out one of those seats first. Extra padding or not, it just plain LOOKS uncomfortable.

Pretty cheap too...but I'm thinking the custom brackets and rails might be a pain to fabricate.

i have a 31 waist, and a bride zeta III, and I love my seat. fits pretty snug for daily driving.

my friend is 6'4 with a 33 waist and altho he needs lower rails (i just have the regular rails) when he adjusts the seat he fits in it very very well. its great for track application, you wont go anywhere when you car goes sideways.

Does SPL still sell seats? I have been trying to find them (I haven't called as I am always looking when they are closed) on their site.

I keep hearing them brought up.

What if you used the wedge engineering rails with this kirkey seat? I don't think it'd be too bad to mock up the two together. Also noticed they got a "BIG BOY" seat.

I'm pretty sure they don't sell the seats anymore. I checked with them a while ago and they said they weren't going to because they didn't sell enough so it didn't make sense to bring them in and try. Sucks because I really wanted one.

I actually just emailed Kuah about this. I've had an SPL seat for a few years and it's pretty nice. I don't like my Memoryfab passenger seat, plus it doesn't match, so I'm trying to find another SPL bucket.

Since SPL is not going to carry them, who did SPL source from?

I am really liking the way the Status Ring seats look in leather.

My main draw to the Status seats is their hip bolster design. It slopes a bit down around that area, compared to going up. I think that would make it a lot easier to get in and out of the car, plus it looks better that way imo.

You can make a solution by modifying the rear bracket on the outer rail (near the door)

If you widen out that stance, sometimes its enough to make the Pole Position fit
Do anyone know if the Pole Position would be compatible with the Bride LF rails? I've pretty much narrowed it down to either the Vios III or Pole Position, but now I'm just wondering what rails to use. The Recaro rails look to complicated, since you have to buy the side mounts, sliders, then find a bracket. The Bride LF looks like it comes complete with everything you need.

And it also looks like the LF still leaves the seat centered to the steering wheel with the Vios III seat.

I have the SPL discontinued and of course it rocks, but I've heard that Pandagarage's seat is comparable.

I have an UltraShield Sport Rally, which is along the lines if the Kirkey. You can get custom width and layback, and they used to have a really cheap price going for them ($160) but now they seem to be $250 and up for the same seat.

I mounted mine with Bride MO rails (bottom mount) I think? Since I got a wider custom seat, I couldn't use side mount rails, which in the end made the seat high enough that with a helmet on, I hit the roll cage sometimes. The padding is less than a Kirkey, so I wouldn't really recommend them, especially with the price increase.

I say go with the Recaro Pole Position. I love mine. I have never felt uncomfortable using it in traffic, 3 hour drives to willow springs, and in 8 hour track days. The only thing I dislike about it is that it sits higher than other seats because it's a bit wide for my nagisa rails (I havent seen them mounted on bride rails personally yet). Plus they haven't faded like a couple of my friend's sparco seats and I leave my car out in a sunny driveway for the past 1 1/2 years.

How do you think Status's seats compare to Recaro? I started asking aorund about it, and a lot of people have been saying that its quality is a bit lacking, others have not even heard of them at all.

I've stuck with some of the bigger name seat manufacturers, but if there are other options out there that are just as good in quality, feel free to post them up. I'm 6'0" and 180+lbs. Medium build with size 33 waist.

I'm upgrading the seats for a couple reasons. First is just the weight factor. I'm looking for seats in the 15-16lbs range, so when you add in the sliders, I might save 15lbs a seat, or 30lbs overall. Secondly, I'm going to be running a cage and harnesses, and needs seats that will work with both. Third reason...well...well the third reason escapes me right now. I've had these S15 seats for a couple years now, and maybe it's just time for a change.

My car is mostly street and strip, but I'd still like seats with a bit more lateral support than stock. The lighter the better, but I'm trying to keep it to less than $1000 for a single seat and mounting equipment. So nothing too exotic (ie: carbon fiber or kevlar).

Here's what I've got so far:

Bride - Zeta III, VIOS
Corbeau - FX1
Recaro - Pole Position, Profi SPG
Sparco - Rev, Fighter, Roadster

If you own any of the above seats, have sat in any of the above seats, heck...have a friend that has one that you've seen in his car, let me know what you think about it. I'm just looking for honest feeback on how each seat looks, feels, and performs. And again, if I left out a seat that you may think fits my needs, feel free to post it up.

Thanks fellas.

If your going to SCCA your car or any other similar racing you have to make sure that the seats are legal. The Sparco fighters are not but the pro 2000's are(verified that with a rep from sparco). Personally I think the sparco pro 2000's are a good choice and won't break the bank like brides or status will. Pro 2000's are what I'll be buying.

FIA certification isn't really needed for very much in the US. You definitely don't need FIA seats to do HPDEs, autocrosses, or, I imagine, most amateur drift stuff (not well versed on drifting regs).

Kuah replied to me and said they've got too much other stuff going on and the SPL seats will not be back.

What's the deal with the Pole Position? Is it a wider seat made for bigger people, or is the frame just wider at the back for some reason?

No SCCA stuff for me. This car is just going to see the street and drag strip. And I don't think the NHRA has any specific seat requirements until you start going retarded fast?

Ah the Hockenhiem's. That was my first seat. Got the Ring GT now. Love both.

The Status Ring seat craddles your body more than a Recaro SPG style. Its like a cup that you sit in making it comfortable. Its fairly easy to get out of but im not that big of a guy. I think I have a pic of me sitting in the seat, just have to find it.
