Problems with 300zx brake swap (front)

Just put everything together on the front of my car and my pads aren't completely touching the rotor? From the top of the rotor to the top of the pad there's about a quarter inch difference?

Now I have Ichiba 5 lug hubs on s13 spindles, and my question is do I need s14 spindles?

You might want to double check the brake caliper to see if its on the right side.. You may of reverse it.. left to right and right to left side.

easy way to check : the bleeder valve should be at the top of the caliper

calipers are on the right side, bleeder valves are on top. I didn't mean the pads aren't actually touching the rotor, i meant that only 3/4 of the pad is on the rotor.

Is there a difference in caliper mounting positions between the s13 and s14 spindles?

I know you said you have 300zx calipers but sounds like the wrong rotors
do you know what thickness rotors you have?

There 30mm, but that has nothing to do with what i'm talking about. The pad sits about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the rotor.

I'm pretty sure im going to need s14 spindles.

Is anyone else running 300zx calipers on s13 spindles?

Yeah sure there 30mm but what difference would that make? Both the 26 and 30mm are 11"?

if you try to use 30mm rotors on 26 mm calipers the width diff wont allow the rotor to fit flush on the spindle and might give the appearance of it being shorter

hmm weird, somthings def jacked up on that
If that caliper is bolted directly to the ears, then i only have reason to believe the rotors are wrong

Shouldn't matter, The caliper and rotors on S14's are the same as S13's are the same minus the lug pattern (excpt ABS models)

only diff are the shock mount bolts, spindle shaft size and lower ball joint size

These spindles are abs models, but the only difference for these is the plug for the abs isn't it?

Just measured my old rotors(abs) and i should of know that they are bigger than the non abs rotors 9.8-10 and 1/16th. So im almost sure that is the problem.

So the ears on the abs spindles must be taller to accommodate the bigger rotors.

So now i guess i'm searching for non abs spindles, which are a lot easier to find anyway.

-Thanks for the help guys

The problem is you have R32 GTR calipers not Z32 calipers.
They use 296mmx32mm rotors not the 280mmx30mm rotors the Z32's use.

No they're 300zx tt aluminum calipers, I took them off myself. I also measured them to be sure using the importnut brake swap as a reference. I think the ears are taller on the abs spindles.

All the front brake mounting tabs are in the same location, for every S chassis, and Z32. If you are using 5 lug hubs, then the z brakes will be a direct bolt up to ANY nissan rwd car chasses.

Try searching a bit more, you got incorrect rotors.

where did you get the calipers, are you SURE they are Z calipers, and not the slightly larger R32 gtr calipers?

Here's some more pictures of the calipers.

Are you sure there is no difference in the abs/non-abs spindles?

Were the calipers different in Canada? These came off a Canadian 300zx. They also have no markings on them, I thought the GTR calipers had the Sumitomo written on them?
