z32 chasis+sr+awd
so just a crazy idea i've been thinking about. i got a 90 z32 2+2 already with a s14 sr20det and z32 tranny utilizing the trans adapter from xcessive. car runs great and handles amazing. i love it. but i've always wondered how it would be to have an awd z32. instead of swapping out everything for the gtr swap. i wanted to keep the sr and bolt up the gtr trans and fab up some kind of mounting for the front differential since the gtr has it designed into the oil pan. my question is, would the vg bellhousing bolt up to the awd rb trans as it does with the gt-s tranny? any help would be appreciated. if i posted this in the wrong section then someone please redirect it for me. thanks

Hope you've got a lot of torque. Interesting idea, but I don't see the end product being anything other than an abortion.
No matter how hard you try, it'll never be a GTR, or even a GTI-R.

i'm not looking into it being a gtr or a gtir. i already have an r32 that i love as well. i do have plenty of torque. my goal with the z32 is to have lighter weight and more control. something for time attack or auto-x. i understand that there is going to be a lot of fab involved but why the f not. this is just a toy that i'm messing with right now

all said... it isn't going to be an easy task but it is what i want to do. i've already seen those videos and they use the rb not sr. by what i've seen so far with the comments, everyone has there own opinion for if it's worth it or not. i really don't care... i'm just doing it because i think it can be done and i dont know anyone else that has even tried this set up. and don't ask for pics if the swap hasn't even been done yet. it just makes you sound like a jackass. it's still in the staging process.

it is a heavy car... i've already thought of that. giving the engine more displacement and larger turbo. also going to try an itb with plenum set up for better throttle response and shaving some pounds off the car with some fiberglass and carbon goodies

I guess what gets me is it's really some serious work, and for what? A stock-block VG30 Z32 TT will smoke you with just upgraded twins, plus he'll be less weight. All that AWD system will do is give you better forward grip in the dirt/rain lol. There is something to be said for DIY fab work that "no one" has done, but if you're really the only guy doing something to a car that's been heavily modified by the community for 20 years, maybe there's a reason.

^^^yeh.... I was getting a little tired of seeing the same things over and over again. There have been very little sr swaps and a lot of tt, 2jz,1jz, and v8 swaps. Something different is definitely in order.
