KA 5.5k Rev Limit issue

Hey, doing a little bit of research. It still seems no one has a for-sure answer. I have a daily driven STOCK S14 KA swapped in my S13. Before the swap with the S13 KA, it never had this issue. Car is 5-speed.

It does this through every gear like everyone else's issue. I don't see why the timing would be off when it has never been taken apart. Other than the speed sensor(s) being bad, if that can truly cause a issue. knock sensor? Idk, seems like i would have other issues if i had a bunch of sensors were bad.. Just if anyone has some ideas to throw at me, I would appropriate it.

Thanks,
~Joe

My s13 used to do something similar. I ended up changing my coil, distributer and wiring harness to get it to go away. I never did pin point what one it was though. Try borrowing a distributer from a buddy and see if it helps?

check the distributor, as stated. I've seen an ignitor chip cause this also.

plug wires, plugs, ignition coil.

start at the cheapest. don't just replace everything at once or you'll possibly end up fixing it without finding what exactly the issue was.

Is the 5th gear/OD sensor plugged in? If so, unplug it and the rev limit problem will go away.

If you still use your cruise control, then you will have to replace that sensor. It wont work unplugged.
