Yes, it is. They planned on running that motor until it blew, without taking unnecessary risks.
So, I left out the stock bottom end part because that's not what is limiting them. With a built bottom end, they are out of fuel with 1000cc injectors, are starting to blow out the spark from their coilpacks, and the clutch is beginning to slip at upper rpms from power. They'll need some huge injectors that will reduce streetablility, a full-on race clutch, and some sort of super coils to continue making more power, so without a ton more cash, they've pretty much maxed the sr20 there.

I disagree. So Americans are stupid because Skylines and Supras come from Japan? Do Japanese have top fuel dragsters running 6000-8000hp (heard differently) and 4.5 sec quarter miles like we do?(seriously, do they?) Let's get real, it can be done here with money and willpower.

And I'd have to agree with mr glacierfreeze on that one. Americans have access to those motors too, and we've gotten just as much power as the Japanese have out of them.

ok, guess I better clear it up for my side. I'm speaking more or less the average tuner that still thinks the honda civics are king of motor swapping, yet none of their motors they swap in are bullet proof or stock turbocharged. Since mid/late last year SR20's were finally getting recognition in the US. Until then, the average tuner, I'd say 70% of them, didn't even understand what a SR20 or even included it in their vocabulary of mostly B/H-series engines in honda's lineup. This is the usual in my area and places I've been to in Georgia, I have no idea on Mid and/or West Coast.
And from what I learned a 240sx alone can be able to swap in SR20 series engine, CA18's, RB series, VG30 (if you got $$ out the azz) Camero LS1's, heck now someone's swapped in a 2JZGTE. Most tuners wouldn't even know what the CA18 is let alone the RB25 or what engine a Supra has. Heck, I still have to explain to people that the Skyline had more model types besides GTR that came with the RB26.

So when I said that I agreed on the US tuning philosophy wasn't as mature, I'm saying it as not mature as in growned up in levels such as japans, where the majority does more then fix up honda's. We do have access to the engines, thats no doubt, but if the majority of the tuning community is following "my friends jump off bridges, so will I" / "My friends fix up honda's, then I will too" kind of thinking, its going to be a while till the newbie tuner acttually gets something else besides a honda when he gets a liscence and $ to buy a car.
But thats just my opinon. Feel free to copy my words in bold and roast, but I'm just stating my opinon too. I'm not always 100% correct, but thats the reason why I'm always trying to learn.

I never said that we americans are stupid because we don't have RB's. We are stupid because we believe that we can get and added 20hp from and intake or whatever just because people said it would. I've seen many people disapointed because their stock SR didn't give them the horsepower they thought they had.

Or how about stuffing an RB into a chassis that is what...14yrs old? I'd think about that before pouring money into a project. That's what I meant by being mature in tunning, not just the engine or motor, but what it is hauling.

I am currently contemplating an RB swap into a 32 year old chassis. I will need to weld in braces and upgrade the rear end and that's it. All I'm waiting on now is the money.

Swaps can be a pain in the ass if you don't outline all the parts you need. And even then there are always some parts that you won't have accounted for. Patience is the most important. Waiting 2 weeks for 1 part can be a real drag. It's always a lot better when someone else has done it before and has a write up online.

BTW all my swaps have been with American vehicles but the theory is the same with imports.

Jeff: the only reason I said that your post was amateurish was because you 'corrected' someone with wrong info. If you are admittedly not a 2jz guru why would you correct someone about it?

On reading my post I see that I was overzealous and didactic. My intention was not to offend.

And I don't 'google' everything before i post.

KA personally

My personal feeling is that it is shitty to put a Toyota powerplant on a Nissan car,if you want a 2JZ-GTE or 2JZ-A80 buy a toyota....as for Nissan, the RB26DETT is called "Godzilla" for a reason,he was the biggest and most badass....just a couple of thoughts.

The rb26dett would be the way to go. 2JZ is a badass motor but u need to keep that motor in the toyota section.

well it really depends what you want to do with your car. 2j is massive hp if built. rb is the same. but how much power are you really gonna use? if your gonna track the car. get an rb. stay stock internals boost up to 500 and be happy. if you want a drag monster go 2jz.

the r34 gtst's came with rwd rb26detts. the 33 and 32 gts-t's had rwd rb25det's and the gts's had rwd rb20det's. nissan produced more rwd skylines than awd's.

so an rb26 swap is not that expensive. it's a simple custom motor mount. and minor different drivetrain. ex: axles, crossmember.

various companies make swap kits. total for my old rb coupe was 5500 . 3400 for the motor. 1000 for swap and the rest for bolt ons

2jz swaps are expensive. and nissan deserves nissan. my stock rb26. with throttle body intake exhaust injecters and a power fc and boost controller made over 550hp on 102 and 517 at the wheels on 91
\
so unless you need more than that go 2j. but for under 6500 dollars the rb makes more power

wtf 2003...

and i dont think r34 gts-t came with rb26 (it cames with a rb25neo)... only the gtr (and i think stagea 260rs) came with the 2.6

also - i think a 26 swap is more for just the motorset/rb25trans than an entire 25 swap with bolt ons...
