So basically I've had this dream/idea of having a SR20 powered subaru. Since my 1st love was a gc8 and my 2nd was my SR/S13 I only thought it would be necessary. I always wanted to do it but was low on funds. I got together with some newly acquainted people that are pretty damn good at what they do when it comes to fabrication and wiring. The guys down at Duncan Motors here in Vallejo, CA have been more than helpful to me. The guys down there most definitely know what they're doing especially when it comes to fab work and electrical. We are going through the process of making EVERYTHING perfect for this setup from motor placement to the actual geometry of the car. This car has a lot of man hours and patience put into it, and when you see the finished project you will understand why. This car already had a SR in it and was running but was strictly a mock up, but the engine blew so now I'm basically starting over. I yanked the old motor and got another one. Basically what we have here is a 95 Impreza L that has been converted from AWD to RWD. The car was originally supposed to be a track car, but I'm working on putting interior back together and using it on a daily basis. I know there is less than a handful of people already trying this swap, but i plan to be the first on actually having it running and driving with ZERO problems. For the mock fit, the crossmember was lowered 1 1/2inch and notched. We used solid polyurethane S13 engine mounts with a S13 Nismo transmission mount. The welded R160 differential and 1-piece driveshaft is already made and ready to go as well. Please feel free to ask any questions. These are pictures of where the car stood almost 2 years ago. (02 WRX dash, FMIC and some other things haha). The nicer/cleaner looking Impreza is just a parts car i bought. More pictures will be posted after every step is complete! The shell was purchased in May of 2010. Here are some pictures of how the car looked when I bought it: Later we made strictly a mock-up fitment to get the engine and driveline in and this is how it turned out: Lastly my friend Trent helped me out with some aluminum and we made a template for the upcoming switch panel: Last edited by angeldunk707; 04-08-2012 at 10:33 AM.. Naaa to each his own, and considering the price it cost to modify a Suby, the SR is a smart move. I busted 500hp with an EJ20G and it wasn't cheap. Its one of the reasons I moved to a S chassis, cause its cheap!! (in Japan that is)

looks good, it would be cool if you were able to find a way to stick to the AWD platform though. But a RWD is cool too! Will be looking forward to the finish on this!

An AWD SR in that thing would definitely be baller.

Naw... that point you might as well just buy a GTIR... Their trans suck. This is more fun IMO.
