battery kill switch ?
So this is how I have my s13 with my 2j wired right now. + wire from the battery runs to a distribution block, from the distribution block a wire goes to the starter, then the wire from the alternator runs to the distribution block. now in order to kill all power with the switch including the alternator do i need to run my + cable to the kill switch, then the other post of the switch to the distribution block? Will this cut all power.

Well Thats really what I'm tryin to decide is on which switch to get. From my understanding, you run the hot wire from the alt straight to the + side of the battery. Then run your + cable to one post on the kill switch, then run your fuse block, starter,etc... Off the other post on the switch. I'm just tryin to find out if Thats correct? And if so, can't I just run the hot wire from the alt to the same post on the switch as the + cable from the batt, rather then running the wire from the alt all the way back to the trunk?

There's a few ways it can be done but its on the switch you purchase. like the one above from jegs.. You just install the switch between the main power going to the battery. Done!
But this is really used to prevent the car from turning on, not cut power to everything while running bc the alt runs everything, battery just starts your car... Ive seen the two post wired to cut everything just need to have someone experience help you install it the right way. Or get the switch like the one in the first diagram posted and wire it that away.. A lil more time consuming but it makes sher power is cut off everywhere.. As in race-car cut off switch, if tech or fire squad needs to cut power to everything in a wreck. |
